Lifting Mobile Homes on Pilings

Does anyone know of a company or person that lifts mobile homes up on pilings?

My husband's insurance company is not paying for anything so instead of rebuilding his beautiful house back, he's had to settle for a used mobile home. His pilings should be driven in about 3 to 4 weeks and after that he will need to have the mobile home lifted onto them.

Before he bought this used mobile home, he wanted to make sure that it wasn't going to cost a fortune to lift it so he checked with someone down in Hopedale who said he was getting his lifted for around $2,800. Well after buying the used mobile home, we found out that the person in Hopedale isn't getting it lifted for that price and that he's still looking around for someone to lift it.

In the mean time I checked around with a company that had lifted one before and they quoted me a price of $18,000. That's more than what he paid for the used mobile home. Not to metion that he is paying $8,100 for the pilings and another $3,000 to have the mobile home moved to Hopedale.

Please, if you know someone out there that lifts these mobile homes for a resonable price, please let me know.

i will check around. there used to be a bunch of folks who did that. all they used were four 4,000 lb come alongs. and it only took about a day to do it. they woul set the mobile home up and drive the pilings around the mobile home and then place the come alongs on the four corners of the mobile home, and raise her on up. i have seen two men do it and it only took like i said a day and that included driving the pilings. ed

house movers should be able to do this real easy--i jacked my own using railroad jacks--took six of us but we did it in one day--

ed's posting below is right on. i have raised 3 or 4 deer camps and 1 fishing camp in Cocodrie that way. You set the pilings, run a cross member under the trailer and use a chain fall on each corner post to raise to the desired height, then drill the cross member and presto! Tried the cribbing once, after 2 days we switched to the chain falls and it took less than one hour. You just need some strongback young men.

Wonder if anyone knows where to rent these heavy duty come alongs????

Have not tried, but a day rental shop should have them. 3 or 4 ton chain falls should do the job if 4 or more are used. I'm guessing $100/day total should be able to rent them, probably less. You'll need a 3/4 inch drill with a looooong azz bit and 3/4 all thread bolts to screw the cross member to the vertical piling as well, the rental shop should have that too- you may have to buy the bit or get someone to make one.All thread can be had at a hardware store. Total job rental /tools/bits etc. less than $350 is my guess.
Chainfalls work better than a come-along.
