I love my lab

Reply
I just would ask every loving dog owner to please say a few prayers for my family, as I had to put down my 13 y/o black lab tonight. She has been having trouble breathing when she would get excited, as the kids and I got home from school I could here her barking in the house,as she almost always did. The vet said she probably expelled to much air and could never recover, her tongue turned blue, as she tried to recover. By the time I got her to the emergency vets office an hour had passed. I've had her since 8weeks and yes she was a house dog, slept in our bed until she had knee surg. She has been a wonderful pet, companion, and loyal friend, picking up ducks and geese all her life. I did bring her last year on 3 hunts, I knew they were her last.God bless her.

Unless someone has had to do this, there is no way they can understand the gut wrenching pain envolved. You did what you needed to do and it breaks your heart. My brewster was 12 when I took that long ride to the vet. Prayers sent.

Had my yellow lab finally pass when she was 13. IShe was more of a house dog. It is hard to deal with when they are with you that long. This past spring I bought a male yellow and he is loved by the family just as much. You'll get another and move on. Thoughts with you and your family.

Thanks for the kind words, the kids are having a very hard time with it as am I,a dr. buddy of mine came by this early a.m. with his tractor and dug a hole to put her in. I did build a very nice 'coffin' last night late. prob. woke up my neighbors, oh well. Put her toys, a camo collar, a tennis ball, her practice dummy, and a decoy in with her. I told the kids we will pour a slab and let them put their hand print in it and write whatever they want to say on it. once again thx for listening to me, it really helps to know there are people out there that fel the same way as I do.........

A DOG'S PLEA
Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart that beats inside of me. Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me learn. Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footsteps fall on my waiting ear. Take me inside with you when it is cold and wet, for I am a domesticated animal, no longer accustomed to the bitter elements. I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet. Keep my pan filled with water, for I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me clean food that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding; to walk by your side and protect you with my life should you be in danger. And my friend when I am very old and no longer enjoy good health, hearing and sight, do not make heroic efforts to keep me with you. I am not having any fun. Please see that my trusting life is taken gently. I shall leave this earth knowing with the last breath I draw my fate was always safest in your hands. Anonymous

I have a few buddies that wait for me to get home everyday and take them for there ride to the levee. We walk and I talk to them all the time because I know that they listen to everything I say. I dread the day I will have to do the same thing with Buster my black lab is only 6years old but the arthritis is beginning to really affect his ability to walk. Penny his mother was hit by a car 2 years ago and lost one leg but still get's around with no problem. I like you am very attached to them all Kiki the little Yorkie thinks she is a lab just short. I don't tell her any different.
