Dozier work now?

Reply

Ok. So our lease was 'select-cut' this year. The owner said she would get us a dozier, but the guy that runs the lease did not want to take advantage of it for fear of running up the cost of the lease. We did some of it cleaned up with a tractor/bucket. I planted two food plots (on in my area and one additional for club). Now he's bringing in a dozier to do some work and exchanging the work for a place to hunt for the person. Now the place he has picked out is the place I planted for the club. I told him that it the season has already started and not too fond of traffic since I bow hunt. I'm pretty p!$$ off if you ask me. It's a small tract of land and we don't shoot much. I think the dozier work will be good, just not now. What's your opinion?

it all depends
When we plant foodplots, the day after we plant you can go ride and see deer prints already in the dirt. I would not personally do it this close to the season but he does run the lease so i guess he can do it if he really wants to but i would try to talk him out of it.

Yeah, I hear ya.
It really sucks. (I think). Swapping dozier work for hunting is not the issue. My issue is, is that we had our chance to do it back in the summer and he chose not to do it. Then all of a sudden this 'offer' comes up and 'bam' we are doing it. Like you said, he runs the lease.

Dozer
I don't think the dozer work will hurt you. I am a heavy equipment operator. It has happened to me more than once when I would be clearing R.O.W. with a dozer and kill it for luch, bathroom break, etc and deer would come out and start feeding in tree tops that hadn't been pushed down 2o minutes. It might mess up a day or 2 of hunting but in the long run it will be worth it. How much are yalls dues and what all is the dozer gona do? A dozer hand & machine isn't cheap.......
