I am a Sgt in the United States Marine Corps. I recently moved here with my family from California on orders. I love to fish and am from galveston. I am just looking for some general help to get started in this new area. Not to familiar with the cause way or the rigolets, but have tried them with no success. Any help would be Appreciated. Thanks and Semper Fi

I'd recommend Delacroix. It's close, and filled with fish. Bass can be found in Caernarvon (the upper reaches of this area), while reds swarm throughout. Trout are found in the bays at the outside edges of the marsh pretty much year round - and move inside during the winter.

You might give Sweetwater Marina (www.louisianasportsman.com/merchants/details.php?id=3295) a call. I know that Jack and Cindy would be happy to turn you on to some great fishing.

Come on, guys, let's load sosa up with some options.

sosa,

Welcome to the area Bro. I am also a native Texan, from near Baytown, grew up fishing the Trinity Bay, along with the rest of the Galveston bay Complex.
I retired as a Navy Chief this past Spring, pulled my last tour out at Stennis Space Center. Where are you stationed?

As for fishing the area, if you are close, we could hook up and I could show you a few areas that I hit. Shoot me an e-mail when you get the chance, and I can start shooting areas to you. So that I know what you can do, a couple of quick questions: 1) You mentioned the bridges...what type of boat do you own? 2) Are you GPS equipped? 3) How comfortable are you in a boat? 4) Where are you so I know what launches you are close to.

Drop me a line Bro, if we're close enough, I'll do my best to get you onto some fish.

Duty station in southern Louisiana? That sounds like a typical Marine Corp duty assignment. Should have joined the Air Force and got those choice duty assignments....Las Vegas, Hawaii...you missed the boat on that one. Still, enjoy the fishing. Plenty of places to go here.

Welcome to the area Sergeant. I am currently enlisted in the Corps and I am awaiting my date to leave for Parris Island. The good thing is, you don't have to go far to find anything to catch in this state. Semper Fi.

Get a GPS. Launch at Brenton Sound Marina, don't forget to buy your liveshrimp. Head to lake robin and have fun. Look for the birds, typically a sure thing. Drifting in the bay will put together a nice box.

I fish Hopedale a lot, but had to sell my boat this summer. I will gladly hook up with you and give you a guided tour of the Hopedale area, from the inside, to Breton Sound.
