My father in law uses one, and the turkey comes out really good. It tastes almost exactly the same as a fried one.

Been using mine for a couple months now and love it. I actually make a turkey now at least once a week. Cant beat the health benefits, and they taste great. The skin will taste just like a fried turkey. Highly reccomended.

I've never tasted a 'Big Easy' turkey but it seems that it would taste like an oven roasted turkey rather than a true fried turkey? I saw where it will also do ribs. Anyone put some spareribs in this and pull them out tender?

The key with the oil less fryer is to brine the meat overnight before you cook it. We did 2 pork roast this weekend one was a store bought boston butt and the other was a wild hog i did both at the same time, In the double basket rack that comes with the fryer. The turkeys and chickens come out awsome. I brine them over night and the next morning I inject it with creole butter and season it just like you would a regular fried turkey. It comes out awsome my dad uses his just about every weekend he does everything from ribs to roast to chicken breast we might even try a pouldo this year.

Hey wolfpack, amazon.com has them for $99 free shipping. Let me know if you find a better price. I'm thinking of getting one since many say its as good or better than an oil fryed turkey.

Wolfpack, We bought a 'Big Easy' last year and love it. I agree with Ryan 100%. We have done butts, turkeys, chickens, venison roasts and even veggies in it and they all turn out great. We also brine the meat as was noted. Try using a yellow mustard paste rub after rinsing off the brine on the turkey, wonderfull. CapLsu

Lowes has the Big easy for $99 right now.
The instructions tell you to wipe the bird w/ peanut oil b4 cooking . Does everone / anyone do this?
Also don't wait till wed b4 thanksgiving to get it.
it does need to be seasoned .

I haven't done a turkey yet, but have done a bunch of chickens.

I rub them good with peanut oil and then rub in the Zatarain's 'Jazz it Up Chicken' seasoning that I use. It comes out with a crispy, dark skin that is very tasty and similar to a fried turkey.

I will be doing my first turkey next week and will use the same procedure.

Bought one a week ago. Seasoned it up real good and threw a turkey in it. Took about 2 hours for a 12lb turkey(put turkey in and lit it). When turkey was about done, I pulled it out and sprayed it with PAM and put it back in for 20 min. It browned up real nice. It tasted great. Bye bye oil.

Try some ribs. They come out great.

Just bought one last week and did a chicken to try it out. Did a great job. The only regret is that I used an injectable marinade. It wasn't to my liking. Will just do a rub next time. Got to try some ribs, I heard it works great on them.

Poppin,
You say you didn't like the injection.
Is that you didn't like the taste or that the injection didn't do well in the big easy turkey?
I will be doing 2 smo/fry turkies for thanksgiving.
Smoke w/ pecan for 3 hrs at 230° Then into the big easy to finish cooking.
Do y'all cook turkeys w/ the burner turned all the way up???
When i seasoned the unit yesterday the internal temps were around 450° to 480°w/ nothing in it.
Thanks ,Bob
