Reply
MY 10 YEAR OLD DISABLED GRANDSON WILL BE VISITING NEXT THURSDAY AND FRIDAY FROM ARKANSAS AND HAS ASKED FOR ME TO TAKE HIM FISHING.SINCE THEY ARE PLANNING ON STAYING IN LAFAYETTE FOR MEDICAL REASONS, I HAVE DECIDED TO FISH THE VERMILLION BAY AREA. I LIVE IN BATON ROUGE AND KNOW NOTHING OF FISHING THE VERMILLION AREA. CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH INFORMATION AS TO WHERE, HOW, AND BAITS TO USE TO MAKE THIS TRIP BETTER FOR MY DISABLED GRANDSON. I FISH OUT OF AN OLDER 16 FOOT ALUMINUM WITH A 50 JOHNSON. THANKS FOR ANY INFORMATION.

I DO A LITTLE FISHING IN THE BAY AND YOU CAN USE DEAD SHRIMP OR LIVE IF YOU CAN FIND THEM. FISH MY THE CABINS NEXT TO THE STATE PARK OR IN FRONT OF THE ROCKS NEXT TO THE BOAT DOCK BY TYHE STATE PARK. IF YOU UNLOAD AT THE STATE PARK YOU WILL GO OUT AND TAKE A LEFT AND YOU CANT MISS THE ROCKS. OR GO RIGHT AND YOU WILL SEE SOME CABINS AND YOU CAN FISH IN THE CHANNEL . WE CATCH REDS AND SPECKS AND ALOT OF LITTLE SHARKS WHICH ARE ALOT OF FUN. HAVE FUN.

An easy fishing trip for you and family is to fish the cove. Put your boat in at the public launch at Cypremort Point. Motor down the bayou until you get to open water by the beach. Look to your left. the area along the rocks and all the way to the camps is called The Cove. Fish along the rocks or anywhere in the area for specks. Live bait is best, although purple LSU touts are also good. The will probably be many boats in the area wo just work around them, especially if you have a trolling motor. The specks will not be schooled up and you have to work the area. Good Luck and Tight Lines!
