I hunt on a small lease and one of the members got a picture a a nice buck and he is telling us that we can't shoot it because he wants to. What do yall think of this? I think that it is not right at all.
if yall have club stands and not personal stands id shoot him from any stand. if you have personal stands i would not go within club rules of his stand( 100 or 200 yds whatever the rule is). If he he came by my personal stand id shoot him. i dont think this guy has his name painted on the sides of the deer does he ? if he goes to adjacent land the other property owner or lease holder will certainly shoot him . no one owns game animals or has exclusive rights to them .
I would respect his wishes. I sure as hell wouldn't be hunting anywhere around where he took the picture. Sounds like he put in the work, and now everyone wants the benefits. Sure, if you see the deer a mile away its yours for the taking, but you know that's not what will happen. Everyone will have stands around the area, and nobody will kill him because of the added pressure. Why can't you just be happy for the guy?
The picture was taken at a club stand and our personal stand is only about 200-300 yards away so it is very likely that we will see him. At our lease we can't use climbers around any stands unless it is at your personal stand or in the woods where there are no stands. and im sure he was serious.
I would just say alright bra. then go make a mock scrape and put some cmere dear close to the scrape and try to rattle him in. then when you kill him bring him to the camp and ask him if he wants a piece of one of the backstraps. But there is no way he coulda been serious or at least believe other people would take him seriously.
just because he has a picture of a deer does not mean he put in a lot of work, it means he put out a camera. the smart thing for him to have done would be not to show the picture at all, he has no right to claim a deer just because he saw it first.
