Where are the DEER

Reply
I have been running Moultrie game cameras on all my land around Kentwood La. In the last 4 weeks i have seen the deer disappear into the great black hole! I mean from multiple deer on cams to nothing and this is on 3 seperate stretches of private land. has anyone else had this and any ideas. Not a doe not a yearling!

Right before the rut explodes, the deer seem to vanish for a couple of weeks.. All of a suddon WHAM!!

Stay with it, they're going to come back out..

The rut is starting up south of the lake right now.

I hunt in St. Helena parish and havent seen a deer in two weeks. I went from rack bucks everyday on camera to almost nothing the past week. Found fresh scrapes all over last week but they havent been touched since. Guess we just gotta be up in that tree whenever that ole war horse decide its time!!!! Good luck

I too hunt the Greensburg/Kentwood area and I think that aliens have taken them for medical testing. Cuz they sure did disappear! Just means the rut is coming!!!

Well I must have been spoiled cuz I have been hunting these areas for yrs. I stopped about 6 yrs back and picked it up last yr with a wonderfull season and was totally shocked this season as I had more big rack bucks on camera then I have seen in probably 10 yrs. They all went back into there cages on opening day of primitve arms and have not returned! I cant even find a footprint!!!! Seriously!!! Good luck to all and get one for me unless I get him 1st! Most of all be SAFE!

ITS HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE LAST YEAR WHEN THE DOG HUNTS STARTED FOR A COUPLE WEEKENDS . BUT, THEY CAME BACK WHEN THE SESSON CLOSED . GO FIGURE

I dont think it can be blamed solely on dogs. No one dog hunts around our property and the deer have disappeared. I still say its aliens

WENT OUT TO THE HUNTING GROUNDS THIS MORNING WITH HIGH HOPES AND A GOOD FEELING THAT TODAY WAS GOING TO BE THE DAY. WELL, FIVE HOURS LATER I DECIDED I'VE ENOUGH PRACTICE FOR THE DAY. CHECKED THE CAM ON MY WAY OUT WHICH HAD SHOT 144 PICS . AND TO MY SUPRISE FOR THE FIRST TIME THERE WERE NO DEER, JUST BIRDS AND COONS

This has little or nothing to do with dogs. I think 2 things have happened to cause the perfect storm! 1st we have had a banner year for acorns!2nd we had a draught! Also I noticed that this past summer having ran 8 Moultire cameras with Modems to my home i only saw 1 bambi in a picture with a multitude of does. i would have expected much more. If you are lucky enough to have a constant water supply then they would stick around but without that they move near it. We had rains last week or so and I am just starting to see tracks again. i plan to dig ponds on property this summer. I cant help but to think it will help. I know the property in the basin is producing very well if one can take the boat rides! I did it for 30 yrs and dont think there are enough reasons to fight that anymore! the rutt has begun shoot straight be safe and be wise, if you have a good day and come home safe then it is all worth the time the deer is a bonus!
