are the bream biting in henderson? not sure if the water rise has muddied the water and slowed the bite. i dont fish there much, but i would like to bring my 5 y.o. fishing. i am looking for a place to fish suspended bream over tree tops or something like that. fishing the over hangs wont work with a five y.o. if so, what portion of henderson ie bigeuax area, near mcgee's landing, north of interstate etc...? give me the gps coordinates to your honey hole! just joking.

we are in lafayette, so if anyone else has a suggestion for easy bream fishing. let me know.

henderson question
so, is the phillips dirty now?

i usually fish the basin near fausse point. i have fished phillips and other places around henderson several years ago. the basin around fausse point (grevenberg etc) shuts down when the water get over about 8 feet (for me at least).

is it true that the water does not come up into henderson until the butte la rose stage is above 8.5 feet? where is the water coming from (north or south end of henderson)? i here people talking about flood gates or damns, but i have never seen these on a map. i guess i am trying to figure out where the best (cleanest) water will be. and i'd like to start learning this area better. should be a challenge with a 5 year old :)

The water is pouring into Henderson right now. It has come up two feet since last weekend. The river is approaching 14ft at Butte la Rose gauge. The water enters form the south end where the locks are along the levee canal south of the pontoon bridge. When the river gets high enough the water overtops the locks and just keeps pouring in.

I fished there yesterday and the water is muddy in all the major lakes. But, the west side in the pits along the levee and some of the Phillips canals are still clean.

That spot could work. Try all the way to the back. It usually stays clean there or try all the way on the north end of Pelba. Take the first right after leaving the public launch under the interstate. It's always clean back there too. I've caught bream at both places. Also take the first left from the public launch and then another left thru a little cut. It goes far back there and the water will be pretty as well. It may still be a bit early though.

Pelba real time water gauge
This is a link to a real time water level at Pelba in Henderson. The water has been doing nothing but rising.http://waterdata.usgs.gov/la/nwis/uv?site_no=302020091435700
