I work on the river and see entire trees floating down river. The amount of timber is unreal. I don't know how much or if any gets through the spill way and then into the lake, but i would be very carefull when running my boat. Some of the timber would damage your prob other pieces could seriouly hurt you if you hit them will running even at moderate speed.
You can believe Ill be going slow and watching close-they could be floating 3 inches below the surface. I hit one just below the surface on Tangipahoa River South of Lees Landing after a High Water period many years ago- with a 14 ft boat with evinrude 18hp we had back then-almost flipped us over.
Capitan Herr Von Goosesteppt sez:...even a pole or railroad timber hitt'n 'ya going cross-current would be like 'Torpedo Loose' in the N.Atlantic in 1942 ???...cheers
