BOAT LANES

A few years ago the SRA bought two stoop clearing barges to clean existing lanes as well as making new ones and clearing large areas for other water sports.Well that's all well and fine,with a 8' boom,these areas were cut at about mid to upper 160's,now we are 162 and dropping.I am hearing reports from my fellow charter boats as well as shoreline construction barges,that the cut trees in these areas are at or just below the surface.Caution needs to be observed in these areas,now the lanes cut before the lake filled appear to be OK.In my opinion,those barges need to be brought back while the BEND is down and re-cut,to insure safety.I hope the SRA is looking in to this..JD

ME and my dad went fishing neer our camp in Lanan cove and we hit a log then we high senterd.

Good luck with getting the lanes re-cut, look how long it took just to replace lane markers.

lANANA is one area that was opened for water sports..JD

if you would see the size of some of the stumps in there your pucker up factor would shoot through the roof.

its been down for what 9 months or so now.

I marked 2 stumps today, there are south of Slaughter Creek boat rd.in the main boat rd. that run N & S on the La. side , 1 is a Quick Silver oil jug and that stump is about 18' across the top, the next one is south of that one about 150 yds with a milk jug. Both of the jugs are in the boat rd. Closer to the red bouy side, but are only about 18' under the water

Also there is a Large log out in the open water, leaving Cypress Bend heading to the point of the island, it will be a little to the left side if you line the landing and the point of the island together.

Thanks Leadfoot for marking those two stumps South of Slaughter Creek. I launched out of Cypress Bend Park early Sunday morning and was in that same boat lane just past the point and approaching the Creek when I hit one of those you marked. I was in my 17' aluminum flat and it shook the boat pretty good, but no damage. I didn't have anything to mark the spot but was planning on calling someone about it. I just got home from Toledo Bend a few minutes ago and read your post.
