My wife and I are thinking about heading down to
Delacroix in Sept. We'll be bringing our own boat looking to catch redfish. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

If you every come to middle TN, I can return the favor.

Thanks,
Chris

Thanks, I'll be in touch. We were coming last year but the spill changed our plans. We prefer to use artificials over bait. Where's the best place to stay, what tide station do you use?

Clarksville
I've lived in Clarksville my whole life. My wife was in the Army and served in the Gulf War. Its a great area KY Lake and Lake Barkley are only about 1 hr away, I've fished them my entire life. We started fishing in LA a couple years ago. We stayed with Capt John in Buras a few years ago, a friend from Shereveport introduce us. He passed away in Dec, my wife and I had hoped to spend more time with him and Otis his dog.

Contact Capt Jack who owns Sweetwater Marina. He has lodging and a full service marina. He will gladly put you on the reds. BTW, Sept is an excellent month to fish reds.

What kind of boat are you running? I will email you with some helpful spots for redfish for that time of the year. I would suggest having a shallow running boat!

Boat Info
I've got a 20' bass boat with a 225 hp. Its several years old, but it runs good and I don't have to worry about scratches. I've also have GPS so I'm not to worried about getting lost.

Sept 18-24
We're looking at Sept 18-24, the tides look pretty good to me. What do ya'll think? What lures during this time? Email me if you'd like.

Sept it is still fairly hot. Maybe high 80's low 90's temps. Fish are active is ponds and on points. A # 4 spinner with a green beetle body is tough to beat. Top dogs in the am can bring fish. I have caught plenty of reds with a sparkle beetle under a popping cork. Plenty of bass in Delacroix and we catch reds while fishing for the bass. They eat senkos, worms, brushhogs and the such. Capt Jack will put you on them for sure. Only thing that could mess you up in Sept is if we have tropical weather in the Gulf. Any storm in the Gulf will raise the tides and scatter the fish. I would pick mid Oct for more stable weather patterns and little cooler weather. If that is not an option then just watch the tropical weather before you make the trip.

Sept Weather
We're pretty flexible on when we come down. We'll keep an eye on the weather. Does the teal hunting interfere with the fishing in Sept? Is the fishing alot better in Oct? Thanks again for all the info.

1 month and counting
We'll be down Sept 18-24. Really looking forward to it. Is the redfishing still on fire? What are the best lures? Do ya'll use braid or mono? Any info is appreciated.

Thanks

trailer
If you've got a painted trailer, be sure and wash it down after your trip. May have a hoist in Delacroix. If they do, then you should use it. Wife and I just got back from traveling TN. Can't wait to go back. Love them mountains! Good luck!

Reds Next Week
What's the latest word on the redfishing. We'll be down this Sunday thru the 24th. Anybody have any tips?

Good fishing
The redfish action has been very good.

Teal season will be open through the 25th. That shouldn't bother your fishing. The teal hunters will be out early and usually only hunt a few hours. Just be courteous of the hunters and give them a wide berth. They'll be gone and you'll have all day to fish. There's plenty of area for both activities.

If you prefer artificials try gold-blade spinners, weedless gold spoons, topwaters early morning/late afternoon. Use weedless frogs over the thick grass beds for some explosive action.

If you're launching out of Sweetwater, Capt. Jack will set you in the right direction. We're getting some minor cool fronts and the weather has been very nice.

Good luck!
