I was wondering what is the best hog call to use to get the hogs to come over to my tree stand area. Over the past few days I have been going out deer hunting with my bow i can hear hogs all over the place and have seen a few come out of cover into the open but they are always heading away or dont get close enough for a shot. i dont have alot of money to spend so I need everyones help to get the best bang for my buck on a hog call. thanks

Oink!
I've tried one, have it somewhere around here, can't say it did much good. They seem to have minds of their own. They are unpredictable at best, lest you find a good fresh wallow. I've had them come in to fresh wallows they were using. If you really want one I'd hit the ground and play the wind, their sniffers in my experience are better than a deer's.

They don't seem to stay in one area for very long, dang things are hard to pattern. You just have to cover some ground and get into the thick stuff where they feel secure.

Hog Call
Yelling out 'Free Shoneys Buffet'. That seemed to work a 2am at Chevy's in Hammond back in the college days.

The most natural sounding and best producing mouth call I have found is made by woods wise called the screamin' hog. You can find it here on this web site.

I wouldnt waste my time with primos. They are top of the line but not for hog calls.

I used to walk in with 3 squealers and a hog grunt on a multi lanyard. I found out that I only needed one. Not knocking Haydels, just voicing my opinion. If you can, go with woods wise.

Hey Chris,
I have used various calls and none seem to really work. If you are seeing them try to ambush them by trying to find out what trails they are using and get ahead of them. As far as animal problems while walking thru in the dark, you will be fine. I have hunted all my life and never had any issues. But, if it is warm just watch the ground good with your light so you don't step on a snake. That will be your biggest concern,
