bonnet carre spillway

Can anyone tell me why the north side of airline hwy is closed to vehicles, i hunt here and cannot drive to go hunt now. Rangers didn't have a reason. I have a nice bass boat and I wont use that for hunting. So my only option is that road. Any help would be great. Wrecked my opener.

I love hunting out there but i need that gate open i am not walking nor dragging a deer as far as I go in.

If your talking about the gate on the levee on the Laplace side of the spillway than that has been locked up for at least 5 years. They are doing some sort of research with different types of grass to see what would be better for the levee system. If this isn't what your referring to than I am clueless on to why they wouldn't let you drive your truck in the spillway it self north of the airline. But I'm sure they have a reason wether it be good or not

I was told by my cousin yesterday, the park ranger told him that a new person has taken over the job of overseeing the spillway and one of the first things he did was put up a gate. The park ranger also said this new person set out crab traps in the GOAT ROAD canal.

yeah its the new gate not the west levee gate. Its bull I'm going to call the news and see if they can stir a pot

If you are talking about the Laplace side levee road...it was open yesterday.
