Pearl River Hogs

Anybody know any good places to hunt in Pearl River for hog, I hear there everywhere, just need a place to start. any specific places? I don't have a boat. I got my truck and my buddy and we want to get rid of these problem pigs and get some bacon.

I have seen them just scouting around off old hwy 11; the honey island exit off I-59. There are 2 roads that break off the main road to the right. Take either one and just peel off in the woods. There are some man made trails you can walk to get deeper and branch off. I have been told it is much better to take a boat off the lower end in the marshy area, but have never done so. I have seen them standing on the bank from time to time while cruising the lower river. Good luck.

Is the honey island road, that is left of 1 59, and old highway 11 to left of 1 59 off the WMA? and is public land to hunt on? or do you have to hunt on all right of i59 on the wma?

Just take the Honey Island Exit and hang a left that the stop sign. This is the main gate. (old hwy 11) You will need to come here anyway to sign in. I would stay off the side of 59 if your not familiar with the area. There is a few tracks of private land, then the Bogue Chitto comes in a lil further north.

There are 3 long gravel roads off of old HWY 11. Take your pick. It is THICK! So be prepared.

IF YOU HUNT OR FISH IN LOUISIANA IT IS BEST TO GET A HUNTING OR FISHING REGULATIONS PAMPHLET, PUBLISHED BY THE DEPT OF WLDLIFE @ FISHERIES AND READ IT THRU. THERE ARE A LOT OF REGULATIONS YOU WILL NEED TO FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH. YOU DONT WANT THE GAME WARDENS TO CATCH YOU WITH THE WRONG GUN OR AMMO.
