CLOVERLY BOAT LAUNCH

Reply
Being hearing rumors that the Cloverly boat launch may not be available to the general public in the future. Anyone have any news on that? Thanks

I hope that is just a rumor as I fish there alot, and with no other launches close by, I'd have to start all over somewhere else as I'm just getting good in that area. Let's hope that is just an ugly rumor.

Man no way to get on the east side of Bayou Lafourche without that. No launch behind South Lafourch High, now no Cloverly. Only way to little lake now will be through Lafitte. That sucks.

They closed the Yankee Canal area and now this sure this will be no trouble for the in the know boys that still fish Yankee Canal.

lafitte is now your best and shortest option but you can get there from leeville but its a long ride

take a left just before the bridge and you end up in caminda bay then head into west champagne bay then north thru creole bay, hackberry bay, snail bay, then you enter little lake near coffee bayou

its a hell of a ride because its not very protected and if its choppy it can be a PITA literally lol.

all in all its best to just go lafitte or launch in lake salvadore and cut south to little lake that way

Has anyone petitioned to the land owner to consider making it a private boat club similar to that of Port Sulphur. Set up a fence and gate and make it a lock and key entry. $100/year membership. Lets say if they have a 100 keys to give out, then thats $10K right there. Thoughts??

well they are a farm so they got the state to build them and constantly maintain a road to the launch that didnt go straight to the launch but managed to circle around giving them full access of the property the farmers wanted to get to the fields, pumps to control water levels and water the crops, levees to protect against flooding, plus on top of all that they got paid cash to the equivalent of what they would make charging people to launch there so they got everything they could ever want and ask for and now they found a loophole that lets them break the lease and they want to raise the rent so to speak.

to me the question should be where to find another land owner who will deal with them in better faith and spend the money there even if it comes down to dredging a canal and building a launch and parking lot to access the area. how about the land right next to cloverly or next to that?

to me cloverly was a PITA because of the access road so looking at google earth i thought why not go south a little more to galliano and on E 100th street there is what looks to be a road access to the canal system to Brusle Lake and bay L'Ours. it looks like some sort of oil field road which i would think would be more open to working with the state for free land and road improvements then a greedy landowner would and its still direct access to little lake.

Sounds like a good case for eminent domain with the local government seizing the property. Sounds like 2 out of state companies against local government that need the land to support commercial interest and the local population. When is this State going to quit building up these peoples property for them to profit from taxpayers dollars, We are losing more and more of our waters everyday

Maybe they could build a new launch where the old one was outside of the farm? Probably make a parking lot cheaper than 2 years rent from the farm.

I remember launching at the old launch before you got onto the farm. Anyone else? Remember that house on the island right there?

It is a sad situation, but there has to be something we can do. How about the lauch in Delta Farms, has anyone ever used that one?
