Fulvous Tree Duck

Here is a Fulvous Tree Duck I killed back in 2009 in the Bonnet Carre Spillway. In my 30 plus years of hunting, this is the only one I have ever seen.

Killed quite a few in S. FL
Best tasting duck you ever ate too... Pretty much lounge around eating rice and grain all day. Now you need a Black Belly Whistler to go with him.

Migrate
These birds have been plentiful in recent years. The problem is they migrate south towards late Sept and October. They have hundreds in Audubon park and are big time whistlers. Very distinct in flight with the legs dragging way behind them. The first time I shot one was in Gueydan maybe 10 years ago. The first time they approached us our guide told us to shoot and we did not because we swore they were not ducks(very long neck and long legs. They are very good eating.
