I am a lucky contestant of the Southfarms Loto hunt for this year. I hunt on Jan.7th of next year. Wondering if any other Loto hunters had any luck and what it's looking like out there. Also any lucky hunters that got picked on Tues or Thurs morning deals. Thanks. Safe Huntin

Went opening weekend and killed 2 woodies and a teal. I think we killed 2nd most of the units that day.
That place is super hit or miss. Pray for a super cold front before you hunt and you will likely kill a few depending on which hole you draw

I hunted opening weekend as well and also killed 2 woodies and a teal Could have killed more, but the other 2 members of my group built a crappy blind...even though I supplied them with tons of good blind building material.

Why would anyone try to get a lottery hunt to an area that sucks like that? No offense, but there is enough quality public hunting areas in this state.

The past 3 years I have done extremely well at Southfarms; From Mallards and Pintail to Teal and Greys. Plus the money towards the Loto is only $5 a chance and goes to the LDWF so I don't see it a waste, so if I don't get picked my money is going towards a good cause. I have my other Public land spots but enjoy hunting different areas to experience a chance in scenery.

The guy that said hope for a good front is spot on. This has been one of the dryest years I can remember and there is all ready very little habitat in the area maybe a couple other crawfish ponds and some bottoms that's about it. All of my best hunts have been when we get some good flight birds pushed into the area other than that it's hit or miss. I allways wondered how some of the private propertys down the road do I saw a blind a few years back going for 10k that's a lot for the area I think , guess you pay for a easy hunt and convenience. Who knows could be down right awesome.

I've hunted the south farm several times and always had decent success. We never limited out, but always killed quality birds; Mallards, teal, wood ducks, and an occasional speck.

Good luck!
