Hey man nice catch. I'm pretty sure you know this since you were able to catch fish in Chicot, but theres a slot on bass over there. Can't keep in between 14-17' and you can only have 4 over I think. Just wanted to let you know, those bass look pretty close to 14'

Once again nice fish. My dad went yesterday with not nearly the luck that you had lol

I see a choupique in the upper right. Any good to eat? I've heard a few people say they were but, I've never tried one. Always thrown them back.
Just curious.

all fish were legal some were close though, and yes they are good to eat if the water is cold

Guys,
Im heading to Ville Platte this weekend (Feb. 10th)and was planning on hitting Chicot. Are they still biting and are blue jugs the way to go. Previous posts said 2-3 ft deep. Is that still the case or do you think the weather has sent them a bit deeper now. Let me know

i fished yesterday for 3 hours with not nearly the same luck. caught 7 white perch in 5-7 feet of water in ski lake

Thanks for the information. I will give a try. Did you use anything other than black/blue jigs or is that the common staple there? I figured they may have moved out a bit. Any more info would be appreciated. I will have my two young sons with me.

Guys,
I am new to sacalait fishing, especially at Chicot (first weekend). I had no luck at all. I know the wind and weather werent very good, but reports were good for the lake in recent history. I fished the South end for several hours morning and afternoon this past weekend with multiple combinations of jig colors and spinners at various depths. Straight lining and slip floats. it sucked. What am I doing wrong? I would like to head back there from my home in Lafayette, but not if the results stay the same. Help me please.

i caught all these fish in the pic with a black/blue jig under a sliding cork about 2 feet deep. all i do is pop it like you would a top water bass bait. i went this weekend and i guess the weather messed them up because i caught 2 all weekend. if you go back make sure and try in the ski lake. this is where i have my best luck.
