Seeking Experienced Bow Rail Work

Reply
I currently am working on modifying the bow rail on my classic whaler to work with a bow mounted trolling motor.

I am looking to replicate this detachable bow rail

I'm looking for someone with experience with bow rails located around Baton Rouge. Will be willing to travel for quality. Will require a clean weld.

Any information is appreciated!

Thanks

I just cut mine right in front of the front legs and bought some stainless bullet inserts from the marine section of our local hardware store. here is a pic if you can make it out my bow rail was like yours before.

It's a classic whaler and I want to preserve that full bow rail look. Any idea on what kind of end connections those are on the bow rail in the link? Appreciate your reply, I might do that to hold me off till i get the removable piece in.

almost looks like the fitings from a bimini top that was modified into his rail, bolted to hinge and a pin on the other end. the pipe is about the same size and would prob fit right in.

I actually just picked some up today at west marine. They sell the inserts that actually go inside the rail instead of outside. I just have to get the other end welded into place. Know any good welders in the BR area that can make a nice weld on SS

should not have to do any welding if you look closly at the pics of the rail on that one you posted you can see the head of one of the rivits. put a small rivit from underneath thats what i did with my bimini top when i changed out the fittings and yes mine went inside also i had just found that pic real quick. your not going to drill through and through, just half way. you can purchase the rivits and hand rivit gun at any automotive store like napa ot orielly's. It will come in handy later on on some other projects you may have where you can not get to the back to put a nut on a bolt. good luck.
