Ending the Season on good note!

Reply
After getting my limit of does for the season,(and not seeing a single buck) I had pretty much givin up on hunting for deer and was planning on moving on to rabbit hunting. Well, decided to give it one more go with bow in hand! Not the biggest, but just goes to show that hard work pays off!

After tagging out early on does in Oct., I had pretty much given up on seeing a buck for this season and decided I'll start rabbit hunting. While i was rabbit hunting w/ a friend a few hundred yards from where i had been deer hunting, we jumped 2 bucks(one of them came inches of running me over). So Monday mourning I decided to give it one more go on a piece of land where i had a feeder but no stand(because there wasnt any trees big enough to put one on),so i made a ground blind that consisted of a sheet of camo and a bucket.I stay in hammond, but hunt in franklinton, so thats about an hr and some change away, so with that said I was falling asleep while on my bucket. I was dozing off so much that when i opened my eyes, he was about 10 yards from me, standing broadside. when he stepped behind some brush i pulled back, and what seemed like 5 min later he stepped out and i let the arrow fly. Didnt even check my arrow, i dropped my bow and went and warmed up, by my uncle's house. 1hr later went back, and to my surprise, he didnt go but about 10 yds from where i had last seen him! this has been my best yr so far, just wish i hadnt wasted so much money on corn, when acorns are free!lol

Great deer, congrats. Very hard to kill a good buck at the end of the season with a bow. It is for me anyway.

Nice buck, your wife will get over it. That mount will last a lifetime, her bickering over your living room looking like a zoo is temporary. Them big boys step out at the most least expected times. Sure they patterned you and thought they were in the clear!
