got a question.....if you are not seeing deer.....why do you think that you would be seeing bobcats or yoties.....seems to me that you might not see as many preditors if you are not seeing deer. seems to me that preditors are nocturnal even more than deer????

You are right, no predators can outnumber their prey. Also, not only do predators know feeders are a likely place to find food, deer also know this and avoid them as much as possible. Deer are not helpless bambi's, they are very good at defending themselves and coyotes know this. Ask yourself this, would u rather rassle and kill a bull for a steak, or eat tender chunks already ready to eat? Coyotes are masters at hunting rats, gophers, voles, and ground squirrels, so why should they risk injury trying to kill something 3 times their size? Their sharp noses and pointed paws as well as their huge ears allow them to hunt these animals even under the snow, locating them by sound and then pouncing on them. If u ever bushogged u know how many rats are around here and its times 10 out west where they evolved.

You are right. In the last few years on our property our deer population has exploded and so has the coyote population. i have been tring to figure how to get rid of the coyotes but I have come to the concludion that the only way to rid the coyotes is cut back on the deer population.
