People are actually targeting record size Gasper Goo out there now? When I was 10 years old (18 years ago) my dad and I went to the Lighthouse Canal looking for striped bass hoping to find one big enough to win the tournament I was in, but we ended up catching a Goo that tied the state record of 20.5 lbs. That was the state record at the time, but I'm sure it is no longer the record.
We used to fish False River every weekend and had never heard of anyone trying to catch Goo before that. Fun to catch but tough to eat.
