Has anyone done any crabbing in the Bayou Lacombe area? I was looking for somewhere close to BR to take my two boys crabbing and this area seems pretty good. Any ideas/tips/suggestions would be much appreciatied! Thanks!

Usually lots of crabs in this area. Go to the boat launch down at the end of the lake road (LA 434). Crab in the bayou or the ditches along the road. Bringing a boat? That opens up even more area if are, get away from the crowd.

Jls. Got there this morning around 6:15 and got a good spot about 100 yds shy of the bridge. Next time I may get there a little earlier and get closer to bridge. Ended up catching about 3 to 4 dozen but most were small. I'm not that educated on tidal movement but seems it wasn't moving to much. Thx for your help and will go again. It's a very easy trip from BR.

It did get somewhat crowded but as people showed up some would leave so it wasn't too bad. Is it better at a high tide or just a faster moving tide? Below is a link I found for a tidal chart of Lake Ponchatrain. Is this accurate for north shore or do u suggest another website? It indicates high tides for the evenings this week so does that mean it would be good later in the day? Just trying to learn. All your help is very much appreciated!

Jls-May try again soon just before and after high tide. Most of what we caught with line and net technique yesterday from side of road were very small. Is that just the case here all the time or just happened that way yesterday? Thx again!

On the opposite side of the launch is where I've caught large crab too, that's why I asked if he was bringing a boat. Get's you away from the crowd quickly, and the crabs know that too.

Bayou lacombe is not a good place to go.Most crabs are small and the internet has giving this spot up to every tom dick and harry that you would think someone is giving away money so many people from everwhere goes crabing there. Some people are unrulely also leaving trash everywhere also since social media tells everyone to crab there the crime rate has went up in that area.People stop giving up your crabing spots you know once you tell one person you might as well tell the world.I have 3 spots on the north shore where i crab only a very few of us know of these spots and all three spots produce mostly number ones and big number two crabs.Just think of wat would happen if i told one person where my spots were at .Well it would be overrun with people ,trash, and crime,,Again keep your crabing spots to urself

Taking a boat gives one access to much more productive spots vs crabbing from the road. Not that long ago,Wifey and I hit an area only accessible via boat and we caught more than 4 dozen with some HUGE crabs.Might see about headed back to dat spot early next week!!Bassing in Bayou Lacombe tomorrow, hope we nab a few, gonna toss Spro frog at some dem lunkers hanging around de lilly pads and thick cover!!!

Gotta love the sign says no fishing or crabbing by the launch, when ask people to move their lines they look at you like you have two heads, contacted LWF, they told me, They want people to be out and about right now...

Good luck, if you like crowds great place to go!
