I have a question for you guys. I was thinking about buying some Sawyer Permethrin insect repellent for the mosquitoes and ticks for the opening of bow season. Have any of y'all used it and is it truely odorless and doesn't spook the deer? I got ate up last year and am trying to find something that wont get me busted in the stand.

Thermacell
We use thermacell ... It's hard to beat a thermacell . I've killed several deer with them in my climber and wouldn't attempt to go sit in a deer stand without them . I don't like using the spray because of the fact that they do put out odor . I've killed deer out of a climber with my bow when deer were less than 20 yards away . The thermacell was glowing red and smoking and didn't seem to effect the deer . You can buy the best spray on the market and still have mosquitos buzzing in your face . With thermacell you won't have that at all . We primarily hunt swamp and Mosquitos are awful ! You can buy whatever you want but just my experience that thermacell works . Period

thermocell works for me. Long sleeve camo shirt and light gloves.Light the thermocell on the way to the stand.

Permethrin
I use the stuff every year on my clothes, no problems with ticks or mosquitoes, except around face since I don't spray my nead net/facemask. You can buy from WalMart or Academy.

...what I hear is Thermo-C is the best for mosquitoes...but when it comes to ticks consider a un-scented medicated body powder inside socks, boots and pants legs and never forget the crotch of 'ya drawers !!!...cheers ???

By the way, it does not have a smell that the deer will get you on. Never had a problem here or in Illinois. Spray all my clothes including Scent Blocker clothes.

Garlic?
I had a little Beagle that had a terrible flea problem. I could not get rid of them. Someone told me to give here a clove of garlic (wrapped in cheese) every day. I tried it. Five days later - no fleas. I wonder if that would work for mosquitos?

Smell like a girl
If you are ever outside around the house or about to go walk around the woods and you dont have any mosquito repellant, use scented dryer sheets. Rub them on your clothes, arms, and legs and you wont feel a thing. Obviously will not work for deer hunting because of the smell, but i figured i would throw it out there. Saved me a few times bowfishing.
Not trying to high jack your post, but it seems as if you already have your answer to your question.

'Garlic and Vinegar'
Huck...one teaspoon of vinegar to each quart of drinking water helps keep fleas and ticks in check...plus 1/2 clove fresh-pressed garlic in solid foods in extreme cases...vinegar can also be used as a cleanser on cuts and scrapes...you only get this info if you find a honest vet...I read in the newapaper some has been know to even dilute their pain killers on pets...but PETA don't 'hear' those things nor bother to investigate ???...cheers

P/S...it's all relative...
