Winchester SX3 Cantilever Deer 12 Gauge with a Zeiss Duralyt scope

A customer recently came in our store wanting to set up his Winchester Super X3 12 Gauge. The weapon had factory installed cantilever rail along with a rifled barrel ideal for whitetail hunting. He wanted a scope with very little magnification along with an illuminated reticle to assist in low light situations.

Mounting was a breeze thanks to Winchester factory installing a cantilever mount directly to the barrel of the shotgun. We ended up using the Leupold PRW 30mm rings. With a medium height the scope cleared the barrel perfectly. Correction: the rings pictured are the Warne Maxima series. After mounting these, the customer favored the design of the Leupold PRW's over the Warne Maxima's.

After looking at multiple options for the choice of optics to equip the shotgun with, the owner decided to go with the Zeiss Duralyt 1.2-5x36 illuminated. Zeiss has long been know for offering some of the best hunting optics in the world. The new Duralyt series of scopes offers the shooter a great combination of features, quality, and affordability. Our customer informed us that he most likely would not use the optic over 3x magnification. With a low magnification range of 1.2-5, it was a perfect fit. The Duralyt series is offered with both illuminated and non illuminated reticles. The customer decided on the illuminated model to aid him in low light situations. Ultimately, it was the perfect scope for his needs.

The customer is very happy with this package. the finished product is pictured below. if anyone ever needs help with anything optic related, give us a call or come swing by our shop in Hammond
