What are some good tactics for harvesting whitetails early season with a bow? Coming from a second year bow hunter

Early season tactics
Best tactics are find main food sources such as crabapple, persimmon, muscadyne and if you only have a few acorns dropping find them. If there is a sandy creek anywhere on land you hunt walk it looking for feeding activity. Food trees along creek such as water oak, white oak, muskadyne and persimmon usually bear fruit earlier on sandy creeks than elsewhere in woods. These are usually a guaranteed opening day bowkill. I used this method to kill one or two deer opening weekend for years on public land in the national forest. If they have oil well roads where you hunt look near the ends close to wells for crabapples. Concentrate on apples that sit on a little hill versus ones on total flat ground, for what ever reason I've found they make better apples and the deer definitely know it. Bottom line get your rubber boots on and go find the feed, clean up tree 15 yards downwind of feed based on projected weather forecast and get ready.
