Biloxi Marsh

To the four guys fishing yesterday north of Pete's lagoon in the dead end canal. Thank you for parking it less than 70 yards from our duck blind and ignoring our signals that it would be nice if you left. That is exactly what i wanted to do all morning was watch you guys fish. It amazes me that with all the miles and miles of great fishing in that marsh that you thought the only place you could catch fish was right next to a group of duck hunters. It was a perfect display of lack of courtesy, common sense, and respect for another sportsman.

See,it's people like you that think just because those guys were fishing and not hunting like you that they should move and be the 'Good Sportsmen'

What if they had been fishing that spot way before you showed up and prop up your duck blind?

Seems to me like you have 2 choices. Deal with it or hunt a private lease.
Not trying to be a jerk but what gives you the right to expect someone to leave just because you want to hunt there? Would he be right in telling you to hunt elsewhere because he wants to fish there? Just as you say there are plenty of places to fish there without bothering a hunter, there are plenty of places to hunt without bothering a fisherman.
I have given way to duck hunters everytime I have come across them and will continue to give them the area. BUT, I don't have to and neither does anyone else. Just as YOU don't have to move to another spot so as not to disrupt someone fishing.

It should all come down to who was there first. Unfortunately, common courtesy goes out of the window with a lot of people these days. I think it's a safe bet to say the duck hunters were there first. Meaujeaux, aren't you a moderator on this site? Your comments sure don't make you sound like one.

Doesn't matter if they were fishing, hunting, or f#€king off , if duck hunter was there first they should haven't been that close. Don't think it was just because he was a hunter he thinks the fisherman should leave mojo. Common courtesy.

Yep,I help the LASM guys out with this internet thing.
If the duck hunter was setup with his decoys and blind and everything and the fishermen moved in knowing this then they were in the wrong. This guy made is sound like the fishermen wouldn't move once told to leave. I'm not real sure they knew the blind was there.
Anyway, just like out on the water,I wouldn't drop my anchor next to a boat catching fish, same should apply here if the fishermen knew the hunter was there.

Aren't there enough people trying to ruin our fishing & hunting with out fighting amongst ourselves? Come on men don't give the radicals more ammo to ruin all hunting and fishing. Work something out and don't Broadcast it.

The guys that were hunting obviously beat the fishermen to the spot as any duck hunter would be set up in his blind 30 minutes before daylight!

JB seems like the type to come fish right in my lap while I am trying to fish! If you don't want to deal with duck hunters then go fish a fish lease! Wait what? Nonsense!

Sincerely,
The guy in the blind next to push pole prov!

First off yes that spot is now on the internet for all to see. I also gave away my hunting spot. Oh well, like i said there are miles and miles of prestine marsh out there that hold trout and ducks and neither the trout or the ducks stay true to one spot all season. I dont see what the excitement about going there is anyway, the guys caught maybee 3 fish that were all throwbacks. The group fished all morning about 200-300 yards away and everybody was happy, we had ducks working and made several decoying shots so obviously they were far enough away. As they started approaching close range we stood up so that we could make sure we were seen. Even then we did not say anything and let them fish for about an hour. Then after we saw they were not catching we began the silent hand signals. After no response from that we told them it would be nice if they could find some place else to fish. To they guy that owns the boat, thank you for leaving when we asked but it would be nice if you could leave a little more cusion next time. To the guy in the back of the boat whose response was 'I dont give a s##t' when your buddy told you that we thought you were too close. You are a worthless piece of crap and do not deserve the pleasure of enjoying the great outdoors that this state has to offer.

Yea to kill ducks out there you really gotta scout especially this year with no feed its tough hunting...i was gonna say that spot didnt sound like a great fishing hole..ive always done better in stump lagoon for fishing or crooked bayou...i wouldnt even mess with that area much for fishing.

there are trout everywhere. we began catching trout from the minute we left the blind all the way back to La Loutre. No reason to crowd another fisherman much less a duck hunter who is pretty much stuck where he is once he is set up.

You handled it better than I would have. I would have made it rain pellets on them on long as they were close enough. Especially since they saw you and new you were there.

I would have called the law on anybody purposely shooting at me but that would have been hard to prove without any personal damage.

Honestly the more fishermen the better most of the time they make the birds really move..sometimes they just fish too close but not all the time..there are many ponds that we hunt no fisherman would even try to get back there so guys try to find other spots farther too. We all just out there to have fun anyway. The birds move much better on the weekend with more boats fishing.

Hint: after fishing Pete's Lagoon for 13 years, I can tell you the fish are not (usually) in that canal. Think water currents.
