Hog Traps

Reply

Im thinking about buying a hog trap but cant decide which model I should go with. Both traps are designed to allow multiple hogs to go in; the only difference is one has a root door that pushes up and the other has a swing gate door. Has anyone ever used these types of traps and if so which one works better. Any thoughts/opinions are appreciated.

Rooter Gate Trap
I bought the rooter gate trap that Tractor Supply sells. Saw one in San Antonio a few years ago. Could not find anyone that sold/made them around here until TSC set up. I finally caught my first three hogs in it. 3-90lb boars. Worked well. Only advice that I have if there is other feed near they will not come to the trap. I took corn off of my stand because they were tearing everything up. Set up the trap about 100 yards up the trail, left it open(baited) for a week and then set the trap. Whammo! I now have a refrigerator full of pork. Good luck with whatever you choose.
