The 8 Steps of a Democracy

Reply
This is a little lengthy, but I feel everyone should read this....whoever wrote this version obviously updated it to current times.

These eight steps of a Democracy were written in 1787 by Professor Alexander Tyler. The United States was in the planning process of a young and fragile Democracy. So, this Professor took a look at the past and tried to map out the evolution of a Democracy. He determined a time line for these eight steps and an estimate of how long the process would take, 200 years.

The Eight Steps:

1.From Bondage to Spiritual Faith
Do we forget how young of a nation we are? Europe had shaped and reshaped itself so many times before we were even put on a map.
England ruled the young America, not with whips and chains, but with taxes. The people weren’t allowed to build a strong nation because all the money they made was sent back to England. In the beginning, they were cool with that.
They were running from Europe so they would have the right to serve the God of their choosing and the manner in which they would serve that God. To them, at least in the beginning, the sacrifice was worth it. But that didn’t last long because Spiritual Faith is life altering.

2. From Spiritual Faith to Great Courage
Now, you have spiritual people who fully believe God has their best interest at heart and that translates into the building of courage.
Not in just this case, but in every case. Once you let God into your life, you begin to feel like you can move mountains. When you trust and have faith, fear seems to melt away.

3. From Courage to Liberty
This may seem funny but the courage you get from God makes you want to fight. O.K. maybe I didn’t say that right. The courage you get from God makes it impossible for you to allow someone to block your blessings. There, that’s better.
Our founding fathers knew we could not prosper with England at the head of our lives. We had to be a nation that put God first, then country, then family.
So NO! We will not bow to your Queen, we will not allow you to rob our country of it’s chance to be great, and no we will not allow you to dictate the lives of our children and grandchildren. We have God on our side and will fight for what we feel is right.
And that’s what we did. We fought and won our independence, our freedom, and our Liberty.

4. From Liberty to Abundance
And once you put your faith in God and walk through the fire without fear, you receive your blessing. And can’t we all agree, America has been blessed. We sprouted from a young nation into a world leader in record time.
Industry flourished, businesses developed, and the Economy became the envy and standard of the world. We fought amongst ourselves, defended our friends and allies, and built the strongest military force on the planet. We adjust and change our laws, while still adhering to the basic principles of our Constitution.
But all this comes with a price.

5. From Abundance to Complacency
Complacency- self-satisfaction, especially when accompanied by unawareness of actual dangers and deficiencies
I think this came around the time of the Great Depression. The New Deal. The belief started to creep in that we had the money to do anything. People were hurting and wanted immediate help, so they turned to the government and the government answered.
We’re temporarily going to give out Social Security benefits, just to get people by until things get better. We’re going to set up Medicaid and Medicare to help the underprivileged and elderly, who just can’t afford healthcare. These are just temporary steps to get us through these hard times.
When did they end Social Security? They didn’t. No politician is going to advocate taking services from the poor and the old. Plus, now government has a huge money supply from all the taxes they collect for Social Security. Great way to get money from you to borrow against for other Government projects.
As the government continued to grow, so did it’s hold on the mind of the American people.

6. From Complacency to Apathy
Apathy- lack of interest or concern; indifference
Now, we believe we can not fail. We pushed the Nazi’s back and crushed Russia, what could go wrong? The age of drugs spread through America and people stopped caring. It was better to protest than to put yourself into a position to run for office. It was better to make love than resist the up and coming war in our own backyard, the ever growing size of government.
Then, one morning we awoke and realized Government played a role in every aspect of our life. We pay taxes from the moment we get up in the morning to the moment we go to sleep at night. They can tell your teenage daughter it’s O.K. to get an abortion without telling a parent. They can even take away your land and cite “eminent domain”.
And we threw our hands up and said “F it”. It’s nothing we can do, the government runs everything. And we stopped listening, we stopped paying attention, and we stopped holding politicians accountable for their actions. We allowed ourselves to be scared of the Government instead of making the Government scared of us.
This is were it gets really scary.

7. From Apathy to Dependence
(Is this is where we are right now?) We were so indifferent and complacent, the first person to come along and promise us the pot at the end of the rainbow, we jumped. This once God loving nation is starting to worship the Government instead.
The same God that gave our forefather’s the strength and courage to fight is being contested at every turn. God teaches us to rely on him and then on ourselves and the Government doesn’t like that. The now enormous Government, needs to keep feeding itself and it needs your complacency to do it.
They need you to not care they are taking over private industry. They need you to look away while the let the printing press run. They need you to worry about Nancy Pelosi, while the Federal Reserve consolidates power. And there’s only one way that could happen, if you are dependent upon them.
If you can’t keep your house without the Government, then you don’t care how they do it. If you can’t eat without the Government, you don’t care where your food comes from. If you can’t see a doctor without the Government, you don’t care how much it will cost future generations.
We have become the nation of ME, Myself, and I and then anyone else that’s poor. They got us right were they want us, completely dependent on the Government to make the economy work, to solve our individual financial woes, and to just give us that tingly feeling.
Guess what the last step is?

8. From Dependence to back into Bondage
This is what I don’t understand about America today. There was a time in our history where people were given jobs, houses, food, and healthcare. It was called SLAVERY!
Master controlled everything about the lives of their slaves. They picked the winners and losers, the house nigga and the field nigga. They assualted those that would protest against their actions. They told their slaves when they could and couldn’t procreate. They picked which part of the pig the slaves got to eat.
Now, the government is starting to enlist the same tactics. They pick which people can get their homes refinanced or modified. They pick which companies are to big to fail and which one’s aren’t worth saving. They release terror list for Americans, AMERICANS, that would question the direction of their country. And with Obama’s full support of Planned Parenthood and his plans for national healthcare, population control won’t be far behind.
And we’re letting it happen. We are putting our heads in the sand and all our faith in a Man. A man that came from Chicago politics. A man that has an entire cabinet full of tax cheats and people who at one time or another have been under investigation. A man that down plays Christianity abroad and refuses to pray in front of a nation audience.

We’ve passed the 200 year mark but we’re still progressing straight back to Bondage. The Government never gives up power. All the power the current Government is stacking will now be the norm, how can it get any bigger? It will and they will want more money to make it happen.
But before they come after more money, they will come for our guns. Mark my words. The American people are different from those in the past. We will always believe in our right to protect ourselves.

When the social spending fails and the Government is knocked down a peg, the people at the top will tell us it’s in our best interest to let them handle it. The question will be, will we go back to God and develop the Great Courage to bring our country back from the brink or will hold out our arms and allow the government to attach the chains?

---------------------------------

So, after reading this, what step in our Democracy do you think we're in today? This is scary, isn't it?

My guess is we are somewhere between 7 and 8. All the idiots holding their hands out, begging for food and money from the government are the ones allowing themselves to be put in shackles. Time for America to wake up.

Not sure where my copy of the steps of democracy is. Seems like it said 250 years.
Either way, times running out.
The ACLU demands that churches stay out of government. Removing the Confederate flag from a government building is one thing, removing the ten commandments is another.
Which weighs heavier on the country? Not for me to decide you say? Then who gave the rights to the ACLU to decide?

This article is false on so many levels. A Democracy means everyone has a say and that’s so for from the truth, how about CAPITALISM. #1 lets not forget all the jail was empty and the crazies was let loose.#2 true. #3 O.K. I'll give you dat. #4 Wait a minute fellow, let’s not forget about how this God Loving nation lost its blessing. They put a set of people into slavery. Love you neighbor as yourself.#5 The Government was never suppose to take care of GOD'S PEOPLE, we take care of our selves and the poor as directed.#6 When did we crush the Russia? I missed that read. #7 I agree BUT Understand who is the God of this world. People it's the devil. #8 Bull again. Let me give you a NON-Paying job, housed you in my shed I got from Home Depot, feed you some hog guts and when you get sick and can't work put a bullet in your head, real Health-care.

What's scary PETE that you posted this article having a Christian background?

Now let's solve these problems, it is not the Government, it’s who control the Government. (Satan)
Whites, Blacks, Asians, Indians, Hispanics and anyone else I did not mention. American people stop the separation, and then we can work on God plan. REFUTED THIS.

The paranoia on this board is mind blowing. I believe we are losing our way of life, but the democracy is still in tact. The electorate has allowed this to happen. Satan has nothing to do with it last I checked.

I didn't write this '8 Steps to a Democracy' Sir! I just posted it. It was published over a 200 years ago by Professor Tyler. Obviously your feelings are in a minority. Whatever the reason, I think most really believe that what is happening to our Country today is VERY scary, and so far from what our 'Founding Fathers' ever dreamed of.

And, I agree with several posters, 'WE, OURSELVES, THE AMERICAN PUBLIC' are to blame for what is happening by voting obviously evil and devious leaders to high positions in our government.

So lets consider what the demographics of America was 200 years ago. Obviously, not today's demographics. Unfortunately if the majority of America thought that way, we wouldn't have who we have in the White House.

If what you posted was written 200 years ago, how did the author know about the New Deal? Is some of your commentary added? I'm confused as to what the original guy actually wrote. Do you have a link?

Once upon a time the world was considered flat. What doctor, scientist said that? Most of the people believe that. So, do we still say the world is flat? No! because it’s misinformation. Consider this, Daniel you know the book of Daniel. Daniel prays 3x a day for the Kingdom of Babylon. He pray for his leader King Darius to do right by the Hebrews, which by righteous pray he was controlling Babylon. King Darius planed to make Daniel Chief Governor over his whole kingdom. Satan who controlled the other leaders, all got together and plotted against Daniel to make a “law” that if he prayed he would be killed. Long story short; he lived because of his faith, the Angle told Daniel that Satan demons fought him for 21 days to stop him and he needed Michael help. PRAY FOR YOUR LEADERS, IT’S IMPORTANT
'by voting obviously evil and devious leaders to high positions in our government' once again lets go to the Good Book it says that we (God’s people) ought to pick our leaders. So what I read from this is that Brother John and Sister Sally that are spirit filled in our churches should be our leaders then we can’t go wrong with pray, from the school board to the President..
PRAY FOR YOUR LEADERS

Mr.Fish...'ya have multiple point answers there yourself...only thing I could add is the Bible was written by 'old poor men' with nothing to gain but a conscience that respects itself...if I recall the first words in any U.S. court testimony were... a few David Quotes

For the Lord knows and is fully acquainted with the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly [those living outside God’s will] shall perish (end in ruin and come to naught).

Teach me Your way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain and even path because of my enemies [those who lie in wait for me].

Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; test my heart and my mind.

O you sons of men, how long will you turn my honor and glory into shame? How long will you love vanity and futility and seek after lies.

It did not start with the 2nd Amendment gun grab.Look at TJ Quotes. We have the most sophisticated military in the history of the world; it has bullets that travel around a corner!!! they have 18 year old brainwash kids and your money and mines (well funded). Think about it. Most elections, the candidates are like taking Viagra and your wife just went shopping.

'At eighteen our convictions are hills from which we look; at forty-five they are caves in which we hide'.

I'm feeling 18 again this time with God ideals.

You may have something in your first comment with capitalism.

The quotes may not be Tytler/Tyler nor 200 years old. It cannot be found in any of his published works.

Henning Webb Prentiss Jr. (president of The Armstrong Cork Co.) may have penned and be the first to ever used the 8 steps. In 1943 he used it in a speech he had written, Industrial Management in a Republic. Then he changed it some in other speeches.

So it may have more to do with capitalism.

If you want to know more Google their names and read as I did.

Prof. Alexander Frazer Tytler has written, that a democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover they can vote themselves largesse out of the public treasury. From that moment on the majority, he said, always vote for the candidate promising the most benefits from the treasury with the result that democracy always collpases over a loose fiscal policy, always to be followed by a dictatorship. Unfortunately, we can't argue with the professor because when he wrote that we were still colonials of Great Britain and he was explaining what had destroyed the Athenian Republic more than 2000 years before.

Intelligence can be a blessing but a great deal of the time a curse. Most people on this forum are pretty smart weather it’s fishing, hunting, politic or religion. I came on this forum a few months ago to learn to catch fishes. I receive a great deal of knowledge and experience from your angling, I would say my abilities have improved 100%; I just want to thank you all. I only have 200% more to go. Hunting wise last year I gave away 4 guns, I just find it too easy, but I’m buying a bow in a couple days. Politic = shrewd or prudent in practical matters; tactful; diplomatic 2-contrived in a shrewd and practical way. I got a better definition; do the right by the people. Religion very essence is separation. What I been talking about is SPIRITUAL. Someone said earlier that all the people could be worshiping the same god, I don’t think so, because theirs different in acceptances. Once Again Pray for All the Leaders.

Figured id throw in somethin totally off subject.

The old Cherokee chief sat in his reservation hut, smoking the ceremonial pipe, eyeing the two US government officials sent to interview him.

“Chief Two Eagles,” one official began, “you have observed the white man for many generations, you have seen his wars and his products, you have seen all his progress, and all his problems.” The chief nodded. The official continued, “Considering recent events, in Your opinion, where has the white man gone wrong?”

The chief stared at the government officials for over a minute, and then calmly replied. “When white man found the land, Indians were running it.

* No taxes.
* No debt.
* Plenty buffalo
* Plenty beaver
* Women did the work
* Medicine man free
* Indian men hunted and fished all the time.”

The chief smiled, and added quietly, “Only white man dumb enough to think he could improve system like that.”
