05/08/2013 Grand Isle Bank Fishing Report

Incredible Incredible Incredible!
The stars must have lined up perfectly because The fishing in Grand Isle today was awesome. Arrived at coastal bait around 6:30, picked up some beautiful live shrimp and headed to the honey hole. Light winds had the gnats eating me up but it didn't matter to me. I was by myself and at peace. A new moon coming up, a rising tide, and plenty of bait had the fish going nuts this morning! Carolina rigged live shrimp and various colored matrix shads on 3/8 oz golden eye jigheads did the damage!

By 9 a.m., a limit of nice trout and a limit of perfect sized redfish filled the box. After I was finished, I called over an elderly couple and rigged them up a carolina rig and gave them the rest of my shrimp and chit chatted with them as they started wackin the trout as well.

Today was DEFINITELY one of those picture perfect days to be fishing. I could do no wrong.

Cannot wait to see what unfolds the rest of may and into summer.

Fantastic
You truly know what you are doing. I have been wanting to go myself just can't with my work schedule. I know of a few honey holes myself. I'm ready for summer, last yr my cousin and i smoked the trout every time we went down there fishing with the the perogues at night.

Wow!
John really enjoy these reports. You certainly can catch em off the bank that's for sure. I'll be headed down there in a few weeks. Any pointers or advice you could give me would be much appreciated. I'm not looking for your secret spot or anything. Bringing the kids down there and would love to put them on some fish.

Ditto...
Nice catch, John. My son and I went down this weekend and hit our usual spots on Sunday and did the same!! Awesome trip. Worst conditions except for clear skies. 30mph winds, no tide, dirty water, and still hammered the trout. Only one throwback, most were 16-18. Tried to pm you on northshorefishing last week prior to our trip, wanted to swap some ideas, but I think my message didn't go through. Congrats.

Wow
Rucker is a trouts worst nightmare !! Nice catch John .

Admiral , my beagles have acquired a taste for fish . I give them the small ribs off of filleted sacalait and the belly off of catfish . Raw fish , they will fight over it , and it's good for them.

Black Lab and minners
My son has a big ole black lab that loves fish. He'll eat everything you catch and go snorkeling for your minnows too.
