Has anyone out there bought a trailer from Jason Jarreau of Pro Ride Trailers?

He advertises all over this site and my experience with him is just piss poor! It's the worst case of customer service I have ever received in my life. I paid him a deposit of $1500 on March 23, 2013 to build me a gooseneck trailer by April 12, 2013 and here it is in May and he has not even started it!! He will not take my phone calls anymore and I'm battling him to get my deposit back. I was just wondering if anybody else out there has had the same problem and how Jason dealt with it? Also I'm planning on suing him next week. Has anybody used an attorney against him? I would like to use a lawyer that is familiar with this guy so the case can go even smoother. I plan to sue him for my deposit, attorney fees, and loss of business from april 12th until now that I could have used the trailer for. Thanks for the help in advance.

Oh, and don't ever consider buying a trailer from proride unless you want this hassle.

Google 'Proride trailers buyers beware' and you get over a dozen complaints against Jason at proride. Unbelievable

We'll see
I recently ordered a 20x7 for my tractor. He sounded like a nice guy and even said he would deliver my trailer for free, since my schedule is very busy right now. We'll see...

Thanks Poppincork. I may try that as well. I have a lawyer that is taking on the case. He says it's a cake walk. I have an invoice with completion date and proof of deposit along with several emails and voicemails to back me.

7mm, I hope you don't receive service like I have. It blows my mind that somebody would screw a customer like this. I'm a business owner and I bend over backwards for my customers. I would never do something like this to them. Anyway, When you contact Jason looking for the trailer, if he gives you any excuse whatsoever on why your trailer isn't completed it's a total lie. He's not even close to finishing it. I have been told the rain messes up his painting schedule, I've been told he's backed up in the welding dept and so on. I bought a 6x12 from him 2 years ago and I went through the same issues. Took me 8 months to get my trailer. Should of learned then. I've been trying to get my deposit back but he's giving me the run around so I'm going for the gold. I have over 10K of lost business because no trailer with documents to prove it and all I wanted was my deposit back.

Also theres no point in reporting him to the BBB. Just go look at the dozens of hits against him and nothing has happened so letigation should do the trick.

Man I rarely read the reports on this page but it must be a calling that I did. I was about to call in an order to pro ride trailers tomorrow morning. He has great prices on his goose necks and I need a tandem dual 24k. I was trying to find reviews on this company and i couldn't seem to find any until I googled pro ride trailers buyers beware. It seems you're not the only one having problems with them. I had another place in mind with the trailers already built but they're $500 more. I'm not in a rush for it so I figured I'd wait and have it built to my liking but I'm not sure I want to deal with this company. I guess you pay for what you get these days. Let me know the out come and if you need the contact info for the next best prices on trailers.

Thanks for the info
Scatteredfeathers, thanks for the info. I already purchased a trailer out of mobile Alabama. He was only 200 bucks more than proride and gave me a 50 dollar gas card to come pick it up. The trailer was already on the lot. You might want to check him out before you make your purchase. He has plenty goosenecks in many different sizes ready to go. I saw at least 30 of them. What ever you do don't get stuck in the situation I'm in with proride. This site ought to take a look at prorides track history and consider removing them as a site sponsor. Bad business. I'll let you know the outcome as well as the la sportsman community.

The almighty dollar
Man I feel your passion on this subject. Unfortunately the sponsorship will never be dropped and the advertising will continue. As long as they keep paying, they will be advertised. There's several hunting and fishing guides that have messed people over bad, and they've been reported on here. The bad thing is that when you open lasportsman magazine(someone left one out because I choose not to financially support the magazine for my own reasons) they are still being advertised like a reputible guide service. Just take a look at all the non hunting and fishing advertisments that are all over this site now. This comment will probably be pulled because I just said something very true, but that's the world we live in today. Freedom of speech, unless it's the truth..... Welcome to Obama's America.

Same Experience Here
Guys, I had the same experience mentioned here with my trailer. He had great prices, and great promises but that's all. My trailer was months behind. I had to call probaly 20 times. He kept saying he is waiting for it to be painted. When my trailer was picked up the paint was wet and dripping. The first time I used the trailer it rained and the rain from the road made the paint peel all around the fenders. He definitely does not use any primers nor does any prep work. Alot of jagged edges all around the trailer that another half hour with a grinder would have made a way smoother job. I would pay a $1000 more not to deal with this headache again. I really liked the idea of a trailer built to my specs but this was not a pleasant experience. I'm not sure what the problem is with the business, because it appears he has alot of work lined up. Odviously it hasn't gotten better since my dealing with him.

Proride rip off
It's ashame America has become what it has but you're right, we have to live with it. I feel like I was just robbed out of $1500 bucks. I'm by no means a wealthy person and that 1500 means a lot to me. I'd like to hear more stories about proride, good or bad, to see exactly how Jason operates his business.

If I had to do it over again, I would buy a trailer from the trailer dealership on Hwy 1 in Port Allen on the north side of town (name?). I had stopped and shopped there before I dealt with ProRide and felt that they had a good selection of trailers as well as good prices. I mistakenly dealt with ProRide because I wanted some custom features on my trailer. Needless to say did I regret that decision having the experience I had with ProRide and Jason Jarreau.

A guy I work with ordered a utility trailer from Proride because of the low price and just like all of you, he was promised a delivery date that was not met. As a matter of fact, he was told it would be ready on 2 more occasions and when the time came, guess what? No trailer.

He finally got it about a month late.

This seems to be a recurring issue.

Bank reinstatement
Looks like I've finally got some relief from this ordeal. Jason at proride has done nothing to solve my problems, not even a response to a demand letter from my attorney. I guess he thinks he's not in the wrong for whatever reason. I had to contact my bank to get the deposit reversed. Luckily capital one returned me the money. My attorney and I are still filing suit due to loss of business. He says it will be a cake walk. I have several invoices of loss business from my completion date to now along with an invoice from proride proving my case. I didn't want it to come to this but if it helps the next person from getting screwed by Jason, I've done my good deed! Thanks to all who have supported me through this. I will post the outcome of the suit. We are filing tomorrow.

ProRide Trailers Company Response
This is in response to all the negative talk about our company, ProRide Trailers. We are a manufacturing company and we strive very hard to meet the demands of every one of our customers, however at times, with the over demanding requests, our company does fall behind. We have never kept or robbed any customer of their deposit, we do have a nonrefundable policy, and however, if our company cannot meet the need of a customer, refunds have been refunded in full for certain situations.
Reply
Response
so let me get this straight, you say you never kept or robbed any customer of their deposit yet when you sign contracts with completion dates and you do not honor that contract then it is ''by rule of law'' the contract is null and voided and you are REQUIRED to fully refund the customers money at their request. (its not up to you) it would appear you don't understand business contracts and the rule of law concerning what is fraud and what you did to this man is clearly fraud so how do you justify that?

as far as your business policy of not giving refunds, that is fine if the customer just changes their mind because its they who want to break the contract but when YOU breach the contract by not providing the finished product on time and built as promised then its not up to you to keep the money and hold the customer hostage to whenever you feel like completing the order, that's called fraud.

geez dude, get a clue about how to run a business and treat customers and stop running a business like you don't have to live up to the contracts that you sign.

the fact that you have many customers all with the same complaints means you are regularly signing contracts making commitments that you cant keep which is fraud.

Response to ProRide
In regards to ProRide's response, it is my opinion that the only information that is factual in ProRide's response is that they are indeed a manufacturing company, that they do tend to fall behind , and that they do have a nonrefundable policy. The other information in their response is less then accurate in my opinion.

Another ProRide Victim...
Add me to the list of ProRide trailer victims. I found their add on this website while searching for trailers (but didn't find this feedback until after ordering a trailer from them).
I like to think I can get a pretty good feel for a person by talking to them on the phone, but I was wrong this time.

Jason told me he could make the small trailer i needed in 2-3 weeks, which was the main reason I went with him. Be aware that once he has your credit card number and deposit, that will be the last time you talk to him on the phone. He uses caller id to screen your calls, and when you surprise him by calling from a different number, his secretary takes a message and he never calls you back.

After six weeks, and no returned phone calls, emails, etc., I drove to his shop. He tells me he doesn't know when my trailer will be ready. When I ask to see it, he says it will be ready in a week. When I still ask to see it, he says it's their policy not to let customers in the shop. I ask him to pull the trailer around to the parking lot so I can see it... he just says they can't do that either. I ask him to refund my deposit or show me some evidence of work on my trailer, and he refuses both.

Clearly, this is not an isolated experience... Buyer beware... I wish I had!

Crying shame
Given all the bad experiences shared from members here alone makes one think, just how many more victims are out there.

One tends to give the benefit of the doubt when it comes to complaints about such issues. In this case, I think a blind man could see that this company is not very reputable given the responses from customers on this site alone.

I feel sorry for you guys.

I also believe that LSM should reconsider the allowance of such companies to be sponsers of this site. Prudent sponsers should be required to have good standings in the community to earn that honor.

I can not believe they have a non-refundable policy that can hold water in a court of law given the facts these guys are reported to continously break delivery obligations to their clients.

I hope you guys are posting your experiences on that reporting site - angieslist, for what ever good that could do, maybe the BBB as well.Maybe there's a reporting site out there called brokenpromises, or theystuckittometrailermakers, :)

Sad thing about this is that fellow members see these guys as sponsers to the site and think they must be trustworthy. I know other sites I visit, I try to do as much business with the paid sponsers as they help support the site with their contributions. Other sites run deadbeats off pretty quick when those types screw over fellow members.

I to cant believe that LSM still has these crooks as a site spinsor. What does that say about them? As for the BBB, do a search, there is a number of complaints on them and thats why they have a F rating with the BBB

I feel your frustration. I also experienced the exact same sort of nonperformance and broken promises and lies from Jason that you and everyone else who has commented about LSC concerning Proride trailers. His 'secretary' is his wife and of course she is gonna do everything she can to protect Jason from his many unhappy and irate customers. I see that Jason and Proride is also posting classified ads for their trailers on Mississippi Sportsman Classified site as well. Shame on Louisiana Sportsman Classified for continuing to allow Proride Trailer ads to be posted on their site despite being aware of the numerous complaints against Proride.

Solutions
I hate to see people go through what I did and I tried to warn y'all. Let me tell you what I did.

I gave Jason a 1500 dollar deposit for a gooseneck and it was never started even after a promised due date. I fell for his lies and waited for the trailer and it never came. I demanded the deposit back and he said it would take 14 days to refund the money and once again I fell for it. Well, I got an attorney involved to recover my funds. I also contacted the local police to make them aware of my situation. In my opinion, if I give you a deposit for something and I never get it, that's stealing and fraud. I also contacted the BBB and gave them a report. And lastly I contacted capital one bank to report fraud on my debit card and they investigated the suitation. Needless to say, Jason refunded my money within 24 hours of reporting this information. I was also credited 1500 from capital one that I returned and said it was handled. I could have let capital one investigate further but I said I was content with the returned deposit.

Hopefully everything works out for y'all. I will say this, I bought a 6x12 from him in 2010 and he does build a great trailer. That's why I went back. I got the same terrible service the first time but I wasnt in too much of a hurry for the trailer so I dealt with the lies but never again! Fool me once same on you, fool me twice shame on me.

bad experience
Needed to add that I also had a bad experience with this company. It's funny how this site tried to help suppress the bad reports of a paid sponsor by banning an IP address and deleting an account. Chances are good it will happen again after this comment.

Just be aware that a) the time quoted is never accurate. In my experience, went from 30 days to 60+ days. b) In my experience the time it took to get the title/registration/license exceeded any reputable shop's time frame. 5 - 6 months.

Other than the administration work the product itself was sound.

You are the only person on here that has said his product was good. I have had a couple phone conversations and also my personal experience and I can say without a doubt he does NOT build a good trailer. I guess you got lucky and I'm happy for you. But I have talked to two different people that have sai their trailers were cracking in half. Also a friend of mine boughtan aluminum trailer and the welds are cracking on it. Again I'm glad you got lucky and haven't had any issues.

Deffect Issues
If Jason would just try and address these issues with the problems that myself and others on here stated he would save his name and reputation. I am over the fact it took way longer than expected to get my trailer, and the license. However I would feel gratified just for him to take care of the improper workmanship issues. Most of them are relatively inexpensive like sandblasting, priming and painting the trailer correctly. Grind down some of the meat hooks that were left from some nasty welds etc. As far as I have seen on my trailer the trailer is sound but there is no grinding done what so ever after welds. The electrical wiring on the lights are really poor. Jason, if you happen to read this please do the right thing and address some of our issues that your loyal customers have. That would be in or out of warranty because you know dang well you have been contacted within the original warranty period. If Pro Ride would do this they would be helping out there business as well.

I WANT REIMBURSED!!!
I didn't realize that when I went on internet & typed in, Proride Trailers, the first post is LSM comments to warn others, so I am going to post my comment here as well. My brother & I went to Jason's shop. He seemed so nice & ready to build me the trailer I desired. He took my brother & I to view one of the cargo trailers in fenced area. Just what I wanted & great price & I put $500 refundable (on tape) if I was not happy & got when I needed it by Dec. 6, 2013. I had to have it filled & set up on a space on Fri. Dec.13,2013, before that night. Then the gates were to open for customers on Sat. Dec. 14, 2013 at 7am. Also included in my agreement was a 'bolted on' hitch to my truck. Jason measured it & said it would be ready to install with trailer pickup & 30 min. to install hitch. I continued calling to make sure & when 6th came, he started his excuses. I told him since he kept moving dates, I better come get hitch on ahead of time & that 30 min. turned into 4 & 1/2 hrs., and I had to cancel work. After continually asking what was taking so long, he went to check & comes back to say, 'They almost got it welded on'. WHAT? WELDED? NO!!! 'You said 'bolted on hitch', not welded, bc I don't want it welded on'. I was furious! They welded on a hitch over my spare tire, messed up my bumper & looks like they used a black spray can & sprayed under truch, including spare tire. Well, while I was there for 4 & 1/2 hrs, a deputy came by to see how much longer for his trailer & tired of excuses & another victim came in & we exchanged #'s. She filled me in on SO much, including her months of waiting & lies he told & LSM, which is how I connected on here. I continually tried to get my deposit back & he wouldn't have it & kept saying it's almost done. Well, on Saturday Morning at 2:30 (yes 2:30am), 4 hrs before the sale & 2hrs of heavy rain after he delivered my trailer which was BLACK, not gray & the paint was WET! I opened the door in daylight at 7am to find the roof had leaked & puddle of water in floor. I had 2 men here to do vinyl on my home who helped me open the door because Jason just attatched a wire with no purpose (no hydraulics) so ramp door is too heavy for me to lift. The side door is 24' instead of 32'. The latches on doors don't line up & back door latch isn't even connected. The roof is flat, not round as one he showed my brother & I & he bragged he does them that way so no rain on top sits there. I have dips on top of FLAT roof! The bars inside that are supposed to be mounted to ceiling aren't 1/2 welded. A gap above side door to see out & no gaskets around either doors. The ramp door plywood floor is 1/4' & cracked & split as soon as we walked in it. The tail lights plug that's supposed to plug to mine is same as mine (2 females). NO LIGHTS! Many screws sticking out through walls & many missing that were never put on. The wood on inside looks so crooked, I think they must've been drunk. The ceiling height is 6' not 7' (1'above my head). The tires have 1' between finders, so if I did load anything in it, the weight of trailer would sit on tires & shred them or flip the trailer, WHO KNOWS??? I made Jason pull up trailer to my neighbor home when he got here at 2:30am, because I wanted a witness to everything after I read all the many posts on LSM & BBB & spoke to Sheriff Dept. & DMV in Metairie about this company & Jason Jarreau. I stopped payment after I looked at trailer in daylight 4 hrs after he dropped it here, under advice of my attorney. She contacted him & he said nothing was wrong with it but he was not going to refund my deposit & take it back. So now we are going to court. So now, I guess all of you reading this will no longer wonder WHY I have spent SO much time trying to put an end to any more VICTIMS OF PRORIDE TRAILERS. Oh, I also found out someone in DS was selling his trailers & advised him of our issues & his company also getting bad publicity & he said he was gonna take PRT emblem OFF of the trailers he is now trying to sell & not order any more, but I will be checking on that later. RIGHT NOW I WANT MY DEPOSIT BACK, DAMAGES TO MY TRUCK, COST TO REMOVE THAT WELDED ON HITCH, TIME LOST FROM WORK & WHATEVER ELSE I CAN GET FOR MY SUFFERING OF JASON JARREAU!!! He gets arrested is he don't pay judgements against him, so all of you with judgements take them to Sheriff's Dept in Port Allen. Also, DMV Commisioner is having a hearing on March 10, 2014 on Jason Jarreau! This is NOT fair to those of us who work hard for a living & be VICTIMIZED like this!!!

Jason Jarreau and Pro Ride
I am sorry to admit that I was duped into believing that he was an honest businessman with good integrity. About a year ago I placed an order for 2 aluminum trailers, one to replace my ailing boat trailer, and one to transport my tractor to camp. After multiple excuses and broken promises, I finally contacted the credit card company that I used to leave the deposit with and initiated a formal dispute. They immediately credited my account pending an investigation. This is a fairly lengthy process which allows (in all fairness) the merchant the chance to give his side of the story. If after 45 days he does not respond, then the temporary credit becomes permanent. If he does respond, even if it doesn't address the issue (Which is what Jason Jarreau did) then he is granted another extension. It took quite some time, but I was able to get my money back primarily because I used the strength of the credit card company. (Discover). I feel bad that I didn't post my ordeal to save others the pain of Pro Ride, but maybe this will help others who are in that situation. If you left a deposit using a credit card, ask for help. The time between the transaction and the time you can dispute it is limited.

This trailer is a 7 x 20 completely custom and built from scratch trailer. His guys put in ot to get it done by the deadline. It was a pleasure doing business with him and I would highly recommend his services to anyone I know. I will post pics following this review. Re: Pro Ride Trailers
Wow! I recently saw a trailer on Craigslist with a 'PRT' logo and thought, no way this guy is still in business. I was apparently wrong and with a little Google, it appears his business is somehow growing!
My experience from approximately 3 years ago: I saw an ad here on la sportsman and called him about building me a small trailer. I liked his price and was going to have to wait a week from another Baton Rouge dealer to get what I wanted so I figured his promise of 2 weeks wasn't bad and would save a couple hundred bucks in the process. The call went well and I mailed him a check for the full amount that day.
2 weeks go by and I call, promised in another week it will be ready. This process repeats itself another time or 2 and I still have great promises of when it will be ready but do not have a trailer. He does not answer the phone unless I call from a different number (work, borrowed friends phone, etc)
During this time, I get to talking to someone I know and go figure, he is having to sue Jason jarreau to get his money back on a crappy defective trailer that mr jarreau has attempted to repair twice and is still not safe for the road. (It took him quite some time to get his money back even after going to court and getting a favorable judgement).
Only after finding Jason jarreau's address and going to his house and leaving a note on the door was I able to get my trailer.
But wait, there is more! I was promised a manufacturers certificate of origin that I could take to DMV to get title to the trailer. Did I get that? No. After several more weeks, yes new trailer with nothing more than a hand written generic receipt for it, I finally get my 'paperwork'. What is the paperwork you ask? A receipt from the wrecking yard for 2 hubs for a Buick and some othe misc receipt. He tells me I need to take the trailer along with the receipts to state police and get them to stamp the trailer! What, really? So I should drag this thing another 100 miles on my time to accomplish what you were supposed to do?
I wound up selling the trailer a couple months later with the same 'paperwork' I received at a cheap price just to be rid of it.
Also, congratulations to pro ride for inventing the ever-loosening lug nut. They had to be tightened EVERY time the trailer was used and we're not the correct type.

In summary, I would have gladly paid double to not have to deal with this company/ individual and recommend all to do the same!
