The fact is that it really isn't an issue of 'we wanna get to the beach and they won't let us'. Mr Cheramie wants the Parish of Lafourche to buy the property so that the Parish can benefit from it's use. Trust me, Lafourche Parish can't afford to buy it and keep it up. The Port Commision can afford it and put it to good use. They will probably allow access to the beach and the parish won't have to risk going broke to buy it. The parish will actually benefit because there will be even more buisiness in the Port. The whole Fourchon Beach as we know it won't even look the same soon. There is a levee project called 'The Caminada Headlands' that will be starting that will build a levee from Fourchon Pass all the way to Caminada Pass. The only way to get to the water will be on over-levee walkways. It won't be like the days we drove up and down the beach and stopped and fished where we saw birds. I miss the old days of Fourchon like everyone else, but it won't be the same. We have Elmer's Island now, and the best part for the people that live in Lafourche Parish is that the State foot the bill for it. Don't let all of Mr Ceramie's nostalgia and 'old times' words fool you. It's a very dumb idea for a Parish to buy a barrier peice of sand. It is totally not a case of some guy owning the land and not letting us use it cause he wants to be a butt-head.

there is no access to the beach right now...i rode though there the other day just looking around...there was heavy equipment stirring around in and out the gate at the end of the back road by the chevron plant, and a harbor police suv was sitting there...he very quickly got out the vehicle to come check me up, i just waved and turned around and kept moving..as an afterthought, i wished i had spoke with him to ask what is going on...im pretty sure the levee thing is what is fixing to happen...id be fine with parking and accessing by foot over the levee...but im not holding my breath...

also... i talked with a gentleman with his wife this past saturday that were very quickly told they can not fish on the back road by,on, or near the barge...when the guy asked why, the harbor police very firmly said leave, now...

In the public trust doctrine the division of state lands ,the dept of natural resources the state attorney general and any extensions of state govt. must protect with tax dollars. And they must also assure access to all people to any public trust lands .any lands in lafourche that is gated off or posted with gulf tidal flow influencing them is part of the public trust.unfortunately these lands are outside the beachfronts jurisdiction but we would gladly introduce a resolution of support to any group that would take on that fight.the only vehicular access to the seashore is through this property . The state can get access to the
Seashore and they are mandated by the public trust doctrine to do so.why are they not acting on it ? I don't know I suspect they don't want to complicate the caminada headlands project with litigation at this point. One thing I do know is the beachfront commission has the authority to acquire access and we will no longer sit on our hands. Thanks so much for your respectful questions. How's the fishing in leeville now?

Mr. Cheramie...You continue to site a portion of the law that pertains to the Fourchon Beach. Why do you not site the entire portion? Do you realize your commission's resolution is not the force of law but only a suggestion. Please quit embarrasing the Parish of Lafourche for your family's own economic gain.

You mean to tell me that I can't go back there like the old days and rut up the eroding beach and throw my trash and beercans everywhere and throw hardheads and gafftops on the beach to rot? The nerve of these people! haha!

If you want to do all that just go to Elmer's
