Need a method for attaching to Rigs. Has anyone had experience with EZ Rig Hooks(no pole just hook/with release and line/suubber. For a 22FT Bay Boat. Or just use a nylon line?

I like to use a dense baseball size ball with a hole in it that allows you to thread appropriate sized rope through the ball and tied. I think I have about 3/8' anchor rope. It winds up great on a one of those orange reels made for electrical cord. Once at rig throw ball over a pipe or whatever on the rig, while the rope and ball are dangling grab it with one of those aluminum pole extensions with a hook and cleat your rope off once you have it in hand. Makes for easy release once you are ready to leave the rig. I've used EZ hook type rig hooks before and I feel the above mentioned technique works better for me.

Using 3/8' 'poly' line (because it floats) I tie a gallon antifreeze jug filled half with water. It weights the jug enough to throw it over the cross member and slack it to the water. Let the current bring it back to the boat. It lets you keep clear of the rig. Use a snubber if you wish.

Thanks for replies and info. Will do polyrope and a fender.

The fender is a good idea, I had tried it and the jug worked better for 3 reasons. (1) With the jug half full of water it was weighted better to underhand throw. (2) The handle on the jug made it easier to underhand throw. (3) With it weighted better it sat in the water better and caught the current better for a speedier return to the boat. Make no mistake the fender will work, but I found that the jug worked better.
