I have sent two dogs to Steve Riggins in Slaughter, north of BR. Bear Creek on the Bayou kennels. I would recommend him for sure. He has done excellent work with both dogs and is one hell of a nice guy. One of the dogs was a rescue, 2yo male with zero drive. Neither of them are labs either, but they hunt like it.
I've also heard a lot of good things about Daniel but never sent a dog there.
Thanks, just emailed Bear C. Emailed the other 3, only 1 reply (Ace). Still waiting on ballpark price. I just want a good hunting dog and inside pet. It is all about hunting for me.
Want my dog treated right and safe while training. As far as Brit vs American, I honestly don't care. Health and pedigree I do care about. Thank you VERY much for the replies I have received. I do appreciate it.
Contact Mark Smith at Southlake Kennels. (504)858-5400 I promise he will answer or return call promptly. He trains in the Spillway. I promise you these other guys can't hold a candle to Mark and his dog knowledge and training ability. He is giving a Basics Seminar at the Spillway tomorrow Sept. 28 starting at 8:30. Pontchartrain Retriever Club is sponsoring it. I think its about 10 bucks. If you can make it don't miss it! If you want to learn might as well do it with the best. Also there will be a feature article on Mark in the October issue of LA Sportsman Magazine. If you need some references contact me (985)789-1828
I got it down to 2. I do appreciate all the input. I had to put my yellow Lab down in April due to cancer and it was the worst thing I have ever had to do. I cannot tell you how bad it hurt me. Still does.
To all duck dog owners, heck all hunting dog owners, good luck this season, be safe and enjoy those dogs.
