Dularge fishing heating up this week

Reply
Made two trips to dularge this past week, on wednesday and friday and the weather was amazing. Wednesday i fished with three friends from Baton Rouge and the conditions were perfect. 65 degree weather with no wind and a falling tide all day long. We busted up the reds sightfishing in the ponds and after we got our 20 fish limit we played catch and release on 10 or so more fish. Then we moved onto the trout in Lake Mechant on the south end of the lake picking up 60-70 keeper fish with a good amount of throwbacks. We fished cuts in the lake with moving water with corks and TKO shrimp in the creole color with the chartreuse tail about a 2 feet under the cork. We caught fish under the birds but most were dinker throw back trout. Friday I fished with two friends and we just targeted trout all morning. What a difference two days can make.... warmer weather with some wind and rain and minimal tide movement only yeilded 26 keeper trout. All in all it was a fun day but we didn't even target redfish because I just felt like the fish were going to turn on at any point in the day but it just never happened. The trout are definately in the lakes but havent moved into the winter holes in the marsh just yet. With this big cold front coming through next week it should push some more fish into the marshes in the deeper holes for a few days. If you are heading down to dularge pick up some TKO shrimp from Jugs and also we caught some nice fish on the new Vortex Shads. Great baits cant wait to see how they do in the winter time. Wish I had pictures to put up but Im having trouble getting them off my phone. good luck out there and god bless

I'll be fishing almost that same area next week when I come down from TN hauling my Tracker 175TF to Houma Quality Inn. Course I want to target redfish myself but I won't totally turn my nose up at trout as they are fun to catch. I'll go out Wed/Thurs and Sun. Going to Port Fourchon in the hopes of calm seas so I can go offshore (maybe). If not, then I'll fish the marshes down there Fri/Sat. Good report there, thanks

No problem man good luck out there. Hit the ponds north of mud lake to catch as many redfish as you want. Use redfish magic spinner baits. You cant go wrong
