Torn Country

I've been flying the American Flag at my home 24/7 for quite a few years now. I was recently feeling somewhat ashamed of myself for letting my flag deteriorate so badly before replacing it. I was finally about to change it and as I stood there looking up, it occurred to me what a perfect symbol it was of what our great country has become--torn and almost unrecognizable. Never has our country been more divided politically, racially and spiritually than it is right now. If we don't change what is happening in Washington soon we may never recover. As it is, our children's grandchildren will be paying the price for what is going on now. Perhaps some of the shame I felt while standing there looking at my flag was a bit of a guilty feeling for not having done all I could to prevent what is underway. Maybe we should all be a little ashamed. Rise up people! Contact your representative and your congressman! Let them know that they should be ashamed of themselves! Until positive changes occur, my torn and tattered flag will remain. I pray for the day when I can proudly fly a bright new flag.

We will get through this. And yes everyone should write a letter telling all our representatives how ashamed we are of their performance. Even to the knuckle heads in the white house.

That flag does represent America. You can change it and America Next election, we need to vote out all incumbents and not vote in anyone that wears the same hat. It is time to throw out the babies with the dirty bath water.

It's terrible what is going on. Im sure many care about the direction this country is going. I think the problem is where do we as citizens start. So many things are going bad.......

We start by writing letters telling every elected public servant how ashamed we are of their performance and that We The People will not put up with it. That next election he/she may need to look elsewhere for income. And if you write this letter and send it by computer make sure you click the button that says you want a response. Keeps them and their underlings busy you see.

Then next election pick someone to support and support them with gusto. Let them use your home for a community meeting (I did this years ago and will do this again next election cycle). Walk door to door handing out flyers. Ask whom you are supporting what else you can do. GET INVOLVED!!

Sportsmen have become so apathetic (having little or no interest) that we get what someone else feeds us. 'But that's the time of year the fish bite inshore the best' or 'I need to be at the deer camp working on food plots and loading the feeder'. Well when you get handed a turd on a Dixie paper plate with a plastic fork you best eat it because that's all your going to get. Myself I would rather eat off the silver platter using the finest surgical steel knife to get the best cuts of meat. The fish will still be there after the election is over. That buck you captured on your trail cam will probably get harvested by someone else on another property anyway. GET INVOLVED!!

One good way to start would be making certain that Mary Landrieu's sorry butt doesn't get re-elected.

I forwarded the entire post to both Landrieu and Vitter's offices and invited them to log on to the Sportsman to check out the readers responses. I haven't received a reply and don't expect one. Now there is supposedly a deal reached. I suppose all that means is that its 'business as usual' in Washington. Hope we're not right back here in 6 months. Man--I sure want to change my flag!!!

Sick of the incumbents. Get rid of them all. No more career politicians!

Since I was a child there has been a lot of changes in our nation. We have strayed for the Founding Father's principles,they would never on purpose do anything to harm the infant nation. They served their Nation, NOT THEM SELVES. As a nation we have gotten fat, sassy and lazy, we complain and point fingers at each other. If we want change, we must first change ourselves. We must to hold each other accountable for our actions on every level. THERE ARE NO FREE RIDES, THERE IS ALWAYS A PRICE. IF you want it, WORK FOR IT, DON'T WAIT FOR HANDOUT,THE MILK HAS DRIED UP!!!!!! NO MORE DOUBLE STANDARDS, the POLITICIANS, will receive the same perks as the rest of US. IF you want to SERVE in a POLITICAL OFFICE, SERVE at MINIMUM WAGE. I'm not trying to preach here, but when Jesus turned over the money changer's tables in the temple,HE CLEANED HOUSE. Enough with the corruption, bribes and favors. CLEAN OUT THE CONGRESS,THE HOUSE AND SENATE and OURSELVES. Are we so corrupt, that's no HOPE? I see similarities between us and a hamper full of crabs, we are crawling ,pinching and pulling each other down trying to get out, instead of working together! If I were GOD, which I am not,I WOULD HAVE A CRAB BOIL, YUM!

It is a dam shame that the word 'Patriot' has become synonymous with the term 'Domestic Terrorist'...So, by flying your flag and hoping for a real change in DC, you have become the enemy of the state...I kid you not...

I couldn't agree with you more. All the politicians who have the letter D after the[r name need to go. The letter D stands for DEVIDE! I hope all you people remember what these democrats are doing to the greatest country on this earth the next time you go vote. They dont care about America all they care about is their party. Mary Landrieu has been getting Fat and Richer off of us far to long its time we vote her and the other carrer politicians out of office.Mary Landrieu doesn't even live in Louisiana and don't think you can call her office because you will never get through to talk to any one! VOTE HER OUT! We Americans better wake up before its to late! I'm 68 years old and seen a lot of changes in our country, but for the first time in my life, I'm worried about my country! I agree. If you contact your local American Legion Post they will usually take your old tattered flags and store them. Most Posts will do an annual ceremony where they will burn the old flags in an honorable manner. Also, do not forget that if you fly Old Glory at night it must be illuminated. It must be taken down in bad weather as well. Keep her flying!

Come to my house in TN, you'll find my flag upside down and has been since the commies/socialists have taken over. Yes, already been classified as dangerous by homeland security because of my over 30 years in various government agencies. 24 years law enforcement (10 in AF security police) and last place I worked at, I tended to be vocal about what I thought was improper spending for frivolous spending of tax dollars when other departments went without because their supervisor was not 'connected' or shy'd from political stands (for incumbents). Yes, I've been fired 3 times from law enforcement positions because I stood my ground by treating EVERYONE the same way. I didn't care if his father owned this or that, if he screwed up, he got arrested or given a ticket like everyone else. Sure it cost me my job, but I can sleep at night worrying how I'll pay bills, but sleep with a clear conscience that I did my job correctly and fairly.

I went to DC in November 2010 for one of my 13 heart surgeries. I could look out the window and see the enemy 6 to 1 true American. That hospital wouldn't even allow Fox News on their TV sets. I truly knew I was in commie land aka Mother Russia. I've run census takers off my property, for my country, I've already given up my life in Vietnam, it just hasn't done the governments job of killing me yet with that Agent Orange they sprayed on me although its made me sterile, hair fall out, given me diabetes and heart disease. But I was proud to have served my country and if I could now, gladly take the place of one of our guys serving now.

I'd rather work if I could, rather draw 100% service disability. I would rather run, then walk 50 to 100ft before tiring out now. I would love to launch my boat or trailering it, without having to sit there 15 minutes to recoup my breath and let the pain in my chest subside but HELL I rather be fishing ANYDAY then sit at home wondering if today is my last day or not.

But I hope before I die, all of our current incumbents were thrown out of office, all the rules were overturned so any future 'cough cough leaders' do NOT get anything extra the founding founders didn't expect them to have. I know that ALL future (I laugh at 'law makers' more like law breakers) are elected to ONE TERM only and with no future election in ANY political future. Maybe then the corruption will cease - but I doubt it. I've seen it especially in small towns too and yet we tolerate it. I also say one State gets ONE VOTE for senate and congress, not like it is now with Nevada keep elected a fart for brains like Reid. Pelosi - what a piece of work that b*tch is, course California been smoking too much of their dope to think straight for many years and overrun with mexican gangs.

What does the government do? Take away your guns so you can't fight back - COMRADE Maobama is following the Hilter game plan, but people don't follow history, they just repeat it, it seems. Ok, I'm done with my rant. Thanks for letting me spew a little (and I mean LITTLE) - for I'm fed up with DC and all the other little nazi goosestepping politicians around this country.
