In the market for a new boat. I am looking at a 2200 blazer bay and the 22 ft skeeter. Haven't messed with either in the past does anyone know about the ride, which one will last me longer.I fish dularge mostly and basically asking which boat is better? anyone?

not better
they are both good for the areas u fish. one is not better than the other. price and what motor u stick on back of it would factor more on the purchase..

they both have 150 yamaha on back

150
I have a 2006 model 20' Skeeter bay. It has held up very well and I fish a lot. Only complaint I have is that I wish I would have bought the 22'. Solid hull. I have a Yamaha 150 on mine, but I wouldn't put a 150 on the 22'. The dry weight of my hull is 1750 pounds, and I think the 22' is a fair amount heavier, which is part of the reason the ride good and hold up well. I would put a 200 on the 22', minimum. The 150 does great on the 20', but I think hole shot will be sluggish and top end speed on the 22' won't be great with a 150 on it.

I agree with Iceman, a 22ft bay boat with a 150 is under powered. They are sold that way to lower the price but in the long haul it's going to cost more to run. You are going with a bigger boat and probably will bring more friends and family with you. You will have to run that 150hp wide open burning more gas than if you buy a 250hp and cut back on the throttle to get the same speed. I have a Blazer Bay 2220 Fisherman with a 250 SHO and I'm very please with it.

Look at Nautic Star
Go checkout a Nautic Star. I'm at 22 hours with my 2014 Nautic Star 214 XTS w/ a Yamaha F200XB. Has plenty of power, rides good, and handles great. Also less expensive than skeeter

Sea Hunt 22 BX Pro
I am also in the market foe a bay boat, what about the 22 BX Pro? Have you considered this boat?

Brands
Placebo affect. In the 22 ft class, they all will get u there comfortably and allow u to fish 3-4 fisherman. Pathfinder, blazer, kenner, nautic star, skeeter, etc. Its a Ford vs Chevy delimma. Honestly when people posts of problems with there boat how many times is it the boat, mostly its a motor problem.

Bay Boats
I purchased a 2013 Skeeter 22 with a Yami 250. Great ride, curises at 40 effortlessly. Owned by Yamaha and lifetime transferrable hull warranty.

I got a price of $37,000 for the blazer bay 2200 with a 150 yamaha

Blue Wave 180
That's a good price, where is that at? Also my only concern with Blazer Bay is that they are much lighter than other 22' bay boats. Concerned about the rougher ride in rough waters.

tradeoff
A fair assessment. A lighter boat wont ride as nice in heavy chop. However it will tend to get u shallower and be more nimble in our marshes. Also requires less horsepower thereby making it less expensive. There is always a tradeoff.

I got that quote at g&f in raceland la.Thats my thoughts also IO am looking for a good ride to get out to coon point in the summer with the wife and kids. Do you think skeeter would be a better ride or smoother ride? hAVE YOU RODE IN EITHER?

Ride
No, I have never ridden in either boat. But by reading online and calculation of specs the Skeeter will ride better in the rougher water. The Skeeter is also more expensive. JMO

Samarai
Regardless of what hull I end up buying there will be a 250 Yamaha on the back. So basically I am looking for a lifetime hull with the best bang for the buck factor. That will also ride comfortably and not beat you up in the choppy water.

150 not too small for 22'
Had a 150 2 stroke on a 22' pathfinder. Bought a 4 stroke 150. I thought about going bigger, but was not justified by what I would gain in speed vs fuel economy. I have a TTop and can normally run 47-52 WOT(2 gps & gauge are either right on or 1 mph different) I run 36-40 mph @ 4000-4500 rpms burning 4.5-3.5 mpg depending on load. I fish a good bit around Chandeleur. Leave from The dock in Slidell. Have never burnt more than 30 gallons. Fewest was 23. I have ridden in many bay boats. I would buy another pathfinder in a heartbeat. Blazer bay copied the pathfinder hull for a reason. But they are not built the same. I'm not trying to pursuade you to get a pathfinder just letting you know a 250 will get you faster a little bit, but you can't go as far. JMHO

thanks that is what i was looking for i think i will go with the the 150 yamaha i am not looking for speed just for a decent ride think i will go with the skeeter over the blazer bay hopefully it works out.

Crankbaits, that boat out the door was right at $48000. Thats with a 250 SHO. This boat will run 65mph with 2 people and a fishing load, full tank of gas. I have seen over 67mph on a cold moring. The price depends on what you get. It rides very well in rough water and can go in a foot of water. No boat can be perfect, you have to make your choice and live with it.

Skeeter vs Nautic star
The skeeter is a very nice boat. I was ready to sign papers on a 2013 sx200 w/ a Yamaha 150, until I looked at Nautic star. For the same price, you get over a foot more of boat, and much more storage. Not to take away from skeeter, but they are pricey. Nautic star is light, slightly rougher ride. I picked mine up for $36,000 w/ the new 200 Yamaha 4 cylinder, and a tandem axle magic tilt. Over 5 mpg at cruise, and 51.5 mph at wot. Nautic star also has great customer service in my experience. Saw my boat being built at the factory in Amory, and was given a tour by the owner's son. He gave me his cell number, and has given me his full attention when I've called with questions. Excellent customer service means a lot.

sea hunt
ive rode in them all, sea hunt and blue wave give the best ride IMO. our 21 ft sea hunt can follow my 17 ft aluminum boat almost anywhere in the shallow also. dont know why everyone is so obsessed with bass boat speeds in a bay boat, though. alot of times you can find late model boats for a few thousand cheaper than brand mew still under warranty. in all the boats ive ridden in, skeeter is the worst ride, and the wettest.

Triton
Any reason why you are not considering a Triton? My dad had the 22 foot with a 225 Mercury Saltwater Series and it was an incredible ride and very comfortable to fish out of.
I too think that most any 22 foot glass boat will ride well, even though not all of them will keep you dry.
The most important thing to me is the layout of the boat. The ride will be there, the little things will be what aggravate you. Rod organizer, round baitwell, anchor storage, battery placement. Things like that is what makes a boat, at least to me.

My 2 cents
Both those boats are really nice but if you looking to spend 37k range I would keep looking around for a 24' bay boat. That price seems a bit high for a 22' bay boat.

Nautic Star
Bigger is not better. If u normally fish 2-3 people, no need to get more than a 22 ft. Otherwise all u are doing is incurring additional expense. I fish 2 people regularly and my 19 ft is perfect. I think the nautic star really is the best bang for the buck. Everything u need in boat at a good price point. There is no perfect boat. Anyone who owns a boat thinks that there particular boat is the best fishing vessel.

Right now I have a 18 ft Blue Wave and handles the waves like crap in the bays.I have two young ones coming up that like to go in the boat and the ride scares my wife. so thats why i am upsizing. I will go check out the nautic star also.

look at 21'4 foot frontier
my dad bought one 3 years ago, we fish 4 people regularly, very dry ride in 2 ft waves, runs 58mph with 2 people, we cruise at 32mph with 4 people and loaded down with 2 150 qts of ice, getting 3.5 mpg every time, we fish out of this boat 20 miles out in the gulf and in the shallow marsh, 21 foot frontier with 200 yamaha SHO is 43000 out the door, excellent boat and would highly recommend

Skeeter
Are you looking for a new or used boat? I have a 22 ft Skeeter. ZX 22 Bay that I am selling. It has a Yamaha VMax 250 on it. It has been a great boat. It handles the bays in a chop with ease, and will still get into the shallow areas with no problem. I am selling it only because I don't use it enough. Let me know if you are interested.

SEA HUNT
I WOULD RESEARCH AND RIDE IN A SEA HUNT BEFORE YOU MAKE YOUR DECISION. I DID MY HOMEWORK FOR SIX MONTHS BEFORE I DECIDED ON MY 24BX SEA HUNT WITH A 250 YAMAHA. IM NOT SAYING THE OTHER BOATS ARE BAD. I WOULD JUST SUGGEST YOU RESEARCH AND RIDE IN EACH OPTION ON THE MARKET TODAY.

Just read that the ride in an 18 foot blue wave scares your wife and it handles like poo. i think someone should note that no boat rides like a car, and you should surprise her and come home with an aluminum boat.

Come on man
Did someone post that bigger in boat is not better. Well I have owned many boats in my 50 plus years of fishing. My mentor Cop Cop Smith owned tons in the 60years he fished. V in the hull and pad also makes a difference. A boat with a cap and a roll boat ride different in a chop. I have taken many people fishing an most don't like getting out of sight of land. Most people fish in an area that any boat will work. . Believe me a 22ft boat will ride must better than an 18 in chop. Common sense tells you that you have more boat in the water and therefore a smoother and dryer ride. Best advice I can give you is to take the boat to the lake and go out about 5miles on a day with 20mile wind and you will answer all your questions on which boat is best and dry. Now hear this more damage is done when you trailer a boat then any water. So make sure you get the right trailer for your boat. Many people try to save money and get the wrong trailer. Check out what happen to Champion boats. Remember this on a smooth lake all boats run great and dry. If you own a 22ft boat and donít like crowds there are many spots that only this size boat can handle. If you have a 22ft boat you can fish places the small boat cant but you can also fish the area he is fishing.

I'm running a 22' blazer bay Pro with a 250 yam runs great and great on fuel. I think you might be under powered with 150.

Sea Hunt BX 22 Pro
The Sea Hunt BX 22 Pro is a great boat I just purchased one 2 weeks ago after shopping for several months. I looked at many boats this boat has a great ride and plenty of storage. It is powered by a 200 4- stroke Yamaha and will run 49 mph. Before you pick a boat take it out in the lake on a windy day that is what I did. I mean a day with white caps.
