Whitelake Marsh Lottery

Reply
Got picked for the Whitelake Marsh lottery hunt. I noticed they charge more for this hunt than for the rice field hunt. I also noticed the marsh hunt is guided where the rice field isn't. Is tipping usually expected to the guides on these hunts or does the extra $125 go to the guide? A comment from anyone that has been previously and knows would be much appreciated. I just as soon hunt without a guide but I wouldn't want to short a man earning his keep.

Went about 5-6 years ago on a White Lake marsh hunt. Truly a great experience. Prices have gone up per hunt since then but I doubt the extra money goes to the guide. That being said, we were two hunters and each gave the guide a $25.00 tip. He was happy what we gave him but they may expect more nowadays. Call or e-mail the contact person for White Lake management and ask him what a fair tip would be if it is indeed required.

Yeah that was my thinking. I called and confirmed. Looks like the extra bucks go to Uncle Sam. I was told that $50 is a fair tip though.
