Best bet location for Weekend

Reply
So Saturday is my birthday and with college back in session, I hardly get a chance to go out like I did during the summer. I would like to go for trout/redfish/flounder and whatever else comes out of the water along with them. I got to spend an hour bank fishing in the Rigolets a few days ago and consistently caught 6-10' trout. Fun, but I'd like at least a few keepers. I have no issue with driving to Grand Isle, Venice or Shell Beach, but it feels kind of limited at Shell Beach for bank fishing when I've been there in the past. The weather looks decent for Grand Isle, but I'd hate to drive out there and spend the night if the fish aren't going to be biting.

Any advice would help. I don't need anyone's secret spots, more of just a hint on which direction I should be heading. If I go to Grand Isle, I will end up staying the night at one of the motels, so I'm also totally fine with night fishing if they are hitting at the pier.

Thanks in advance! -J

By Fort Pike launch, just not *on* their property. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. The best I've ever done there is 2 specks, 1 red, 1 flounder. I'd like to go somewhere this time that would blow my mind a little bit. I know that's hard to come by when bank fishing, just doing my time on the bank until I can afford the boat.

If you are on Chef headed towards Slidell, it's on the right side before the big bridge. I usually throw out live shrimp on a bottom rig. I seem to lose less that way than with corks there. Problem is, Rigolet's Marina is nice and all, but the shrimp there have been small as of late, and pricey. I probably would save money going to Rouse's and buying fish, but where's the fun (or flavor) in that?

I've had some good luck in Port Sulphur behind the High School. Reds, Specks, Sheepshead and Flounder have been caught from the bank. For the most part good keepers.
