Duck hunting in RedRiver Wma

It know called Richard Yancey now but the area I am looking into in the old RR WMA. I have been wanting to scout it but really dont know where to start. I know there is a greentree reservoir but it is small and from what I have heard has a lot of pressure and is hit or miss at best. Any advice on where to start. Do most hunt right off the river? Holes back in the woods when they flood? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am looking to hunt this area this year. Have you done any duck hunting since this post?

Re: Duck hunting in RedRiver Wma
My personal experience has been lots of work locating the ducks at RY. We have been very successful with flooded timber; once you find the honey hole itís not uncommon to see a few hundred ducks mostly wood ducks. As you drive along the levee start glassing the flooded areas, most of this area can be accessed from the road with a small boat or perigue, second option is the river and third is the ponds throughout RY. Every year we make a few selected hunts limiting out every time, I have never seen a person when duck hunting but!!! We work hard and go long to make sure that doesnít happen. Good luck, also look at one of the Louisiana sportsmanís written articles on duck hunting RY from last year. Good information!!!
