FYI, i checked out sec 120 today, drug bottom all the way back, no water, only saw about a dozen woodies, don't look to good for Saturday opening.
i think I'll try the open water at indian bayou, saw greys, teal and plenty pol'deaus from i10 crossing.

i never lie on my reports
one thing i don't do is come on here and tell stories. if you or any one else wants to try it out, go for it, just saying i reported what i saw. the water in the impound area ( both sides ) is about 18' lower than normal,Saturday brings a new wet cold front, it should bring a few more birds down. where they are going is any body's guess. happy hunting.

I can confirm Albino's report: the water is low, and from what I could tell when I scouted, there are very few birds out there. (But then again, besides the resident woodies, there rarely are many birds out there this time of year. My experience is that birds use the Des Ourses Swamp as a transitional resting area and thus don't spend a whole lot of time there anyway.) The water level, however, is not lower than it was last year around this time. It is (was) navigable, but that's not saying a whole lot.

brave
well you guys are rare and brave, to tell people where the ducks are on a public forum and public land, you are taking a chance, of having the whole crew of internet scouters down there, good luck to you guys, hopefully do really good

??
I think you're confused: We're not telling any one where the ducks are, only where they're not.

manchac
I was out in manchac last weekend for the youth hunt. The prairie sounded like a warzone but I got a report from a fellow hunter who said there wasn't a lot of birds. Mostly Coots. Game warden checked us and told us that so far only 1 boat had a limit. So I don't know how much that will change before Saturday but hopefully I can give a solid report early next week

Sec 120
Walked the South Farm last Wednesday. They're pumping water into the ponds because it's bone dry. Saw a group of hoods, 2 mallards, 3 otters, a mink, and a few dozen coons feasting on crawfish. It's very dry so I don't doubt that 120 is low

Indian Bayou
well went to some ponds we know north I. B. , saturday morn, did ok, 2 shy of 2 limits,( mostly mallard and grey) decided to try S WMA ( more woodies and teal )on sunday, got 2 - 1/2 limits, not to hot.talked to game warden,he told us we did good, most boats only had 1, 2, or 3 duck per hunter. so it's not there yet, and the water is still very low, drug bottom all the way. going back to I.B.

still not much
a few didn't believe this report, here we are a long time later, and i went several times to sec 120, more hunters than birds. hardly any shooting at all , later in season it's getting the worse it's getting. i'm giving up on sec 120, i found a few further west and gonna try to keep it secret. i know that won't last.

IB lately
Have you been back to IB lately? Have heard it has been really slow all year at least in the timber north of the flats.
