Bank fishing chalmette?

Been fishing the south shore lakefront with no luck, as always it's been hit or miss. Been looking over satellite images of chalmette and there seems to be a few spots accessible to bank fish. I'm not looking for any spots just what to look for if I do decide to go out there since it's only 30 mins away.

Think your best bet for bank fishing would be Hwy 1. There are numerous run outs along this hwy. There also are several pumping stations that have deep holes where the water is pumped. When it gets cold the fish hold in these deep spots.

As CaptainJS says, Hwy 1 is it. I, too, keep trying the lakefront, mostly because it's close. Haven't found any good bank fishing spots in Chalmette, either. No luck either at any of the spots in the Rigolets or Shell Beach.

We're just paying our dues, fishing on the bank. We'll have a greater appreciation for the day we can hop in a boat and go where we want. That's what I keep telling myself anyway... Good luck!

Has anyone tried Venice for bank fishing?

Live shrimp on the bottom on Hopedale HWY between the old Pip's Place and Breton Sound in Bayou Loutre. Get the live shrimp at Breton Sound Marina. You should catch fish unless the water temp gets in the low 50s. This is a pretty sure thing in December. You may have to move a couple of times until you find a bite. Just a hook and sinker, and be prepared to rerig due to snags. Good luck, and give us a report.

Thank y'all for the replies. I've been to hwy 1 once about two weeks ago and came back home with nothing to show for. Not because there wasn't any fish because at our last spot many we're catching specks left and right but I guess I just didn't have the right bait that day. Hopefully I'll be able to make another trip down there soon it was my first time there and even though I didn't catch anything I really enjoyed it. I kept screenshots of locations where I know we're fish that day so next time I'll go straight to those.

As far as hopedale thank you for that I'll be thinking of going Sunday but doesn't look like it'll happen 57 degrees and 16 mph winds don't seem too inviting but who knows. Either Sunday or sometime next week, but I'll be posting reports after my next fishing trips.

Hey I'm actually heading out tomorrow to grand isle getting a little late start since the girlfriend is going with me we'll be going to the fishing bridge hopefully it'll be worth it I'll be posting on here any results good luck!
