Looks like this could get big with a lot of fun for all. Ruddock right up the road may be a better place if the numbers grow with better weather. As soon as the spring weather comes your present landing will be like saints football game. Ruddock would give you an area all to your own and plenty of parking and area for weigh in out of the way. Only a few miles more. Hope it grows saw the Friday night one on False River grow to 100 boats.

Nice results for the winter. I was wanting to go fish...but my son who just got out of the airborne wanted to go to Leeville Saturday...so we went there. Have not fished the Manchac/hwy 51 area in over 30 years.

Had a good time even though we had a little rain it didn't stop the fish. It took all I had to put together that stringer and was sure happy it turned out to be enough. Caught all 5 in the last 2 hours. Ill be sure to be there next month if you do it again.

I'm a newbie to manchac but after two tournaments I see that you need to bring lots of gas to compete I've stayed under the bridge and have played around with small fish that's not gonna.cut it. I'll be looking forward to the next one and I'll make sure to have what my caption says lol

Not so sure on the lots of gas, sure I burnt almost a full tank running all over the place but in the last two hours I caught the winning stringer on north pass within 3 miles from the launch. Not that it's always that way but they do have some good fish close by, they just get the most pressure, you have to do something different to get them fired up. For me it was a 3/8 spinnerbait with a larger than normal blade combo in some colors you can't buy pre built, trimmed skirt to the back of the hook and burnt it as fast as I could and still keep it under the water surface. Lots of vibration small target an keying InTo where the fish were holding up not just covering water. I know a few guys made a big run but it's not necessary. Normally if you can get above a 8 pound bag in that area you stand a good chance to take home the money, although it's really just about the fishing and bragging rights.

Yeah your right they have fish but I guess the small ones likely hook better I caught three fish on a jig in the pouring rain and that was it but it's still fun and I look forward to the next one

Moving to Ruddock might be a good idea once Manchac starts getting really crowded, will definitely keep that in mind. I have a good time every month whether I catch a bunch or none at all. As far as the quality of fish goes, I don't know how many of you saw the last 2 months results but there were some good fish caught. In October the big fish was 3.5 lbs and I believe it was caught not too far from the launch. Last month (November) I caught a 9 lb - 12 oz bag with a 3.4 lb anchor at an area about a 15-20 minute ride in the Z7. Definitely hope it keeps growing and it stays a great way to have some cheap yet competitive fun.

Redshad it would be cool if you tried to start a little club in the future and expand the fishing a little more get into the basin a little, that would be pretty cool but just giving my opinion not hatin let us know when the next one is

Catfish, yeah, I know what you mean. I had actually originally started a 'facebook' club with some friends of mine who are into fishing. We probably have around 30 people in the 'club'. Anyway, most of us are from Walker so we wanted to just have cheap, once-a-month relatively local tournaments. Turns out it's pretty hard to get a good consistent turn-out every month with people having different commitments and work and such, so that's why I started posting them on here. We decided to stay fishing Manchac because of how close it is to most of the guys house. I would like to do few tournaments at other locations like the basin, bayou black, catouatchie etc. but it's hard to do many of them when we are trying to stay as cheap as possible lol. I also have a few big benefit tournaments I like to fish and a small club out of Denham Springs I fish with too, so it's just easier for me to put them on at Manchac. But yea, I would like to at least do a couple at some other locations.
