'Hottest reports' hate it....

Reply
Am I the only one that hates the 'hottest reports' section on the right side that replaced the 'most commented' 'most viewed' ' most recent'?? I used to use the old setup every time I came here (multiple times a day). I'm now down to one visit a day.

Just my opinion, but it hate it.

Yep. I hate it too.

It is terrible. I am the same - used to visit multiple times per day. Now I just stop by every other day or so.

If this keeps up...Hottest Report!

Hate it! It's just the same things up everyday.

i used to visit enough that i only wanted to see the latest report. PLEASE GO BACK TO HOW IT WAS!!!

Hopefully this report ends up in the hottest report section so they can see we want the old way back. Lol!

there are now no filters to see the latest reports. you have to scroll through reports that are old and new alike. They're all mixed in together.

Very messy

Some way or another management always seems to come up with new ideas that @#%&$ everything up and they think its great. This is why I retired. As the old saying goes, 'Cant fix stupid'

Hopefully they can acknowledge this and simply add a filter.

HATE the new format!

Can't stand this new format-they need to return to the old forum format

I cannot stand the new format. Like many people before already said before, I use to visit many times a day now it is just when I'm bored.

Hey Louisiana Sportsman...the people have spoken now please listen and change it back. Many avid fans of your page are not pleased!

The old way was not good either. The reports with the newest comments always came to the top. Often it had nothing to do with the quality of the report, or was just a buddy bumping it back to the top with a high-five kind of comment.

I have no opinion on the latest changes yet. But my preference is to put the latest reports on top, no bumps from comments, no anything. Stuff with comments can go in an opinion section.

The hottest report is a two headed dear, this is BS!!! Who's bright idea was this???

Not a one word from Andy crawford or any other moderator on this thread yet? Its been up for 6 days and with 20+ comments? They are usually quick on other threads but im surprised we have not gotten one word from this on this matter? Maybe an update on why yall changed it to this way?

I've love to hear the reasoning behind this move. You had a feature that listed exactly what you have now, PLUS two other options for your users. WHY TAKE THAT AWAY????!!!!???

Thanks for your feedback on the changes. Just wondering what exactly you don't like about the changes? All I've heard is, 'I hate it'. Hottest reports is just a word for most viewed. The only thing missing is most commented. Sounds like a good idea to add back in 'most commented'? You can always go to the reports section and see the latest report. We are always adding features to the site and making changes to improve the look and functionality. The front page actually went thru about 4 major changes in 2013...the biggest being the hiring of Pat Bonin, an excellent outdoor writer from New Iberia, that writes regularly for the front page of the site. Thanks again for your comments. Look forward to hearing more on this. Thanks, Tony Taylor

Tony,

The people want 'MOST RECENT.' We enjoy visiting the site not only to see the most viewed and most commented, but we want the MOST RECENT right in front of us! We do not want to have to search for them.
Reply
Yeah we're lazy. We want ''most recent'' back so we don't have to go to each forum to look for the most recent. Way too time consuming in a fast paced modern world.

Please keep the comments going. Really appreciate the feedback.

Just was easer to go to most recent or most commits when it was right in front of us . Yep were lazy

For me, I have LA Sportsman classifieds bookmarked on all my computers, phone, and ipad. I USED to look multiple times a day. I'd look through the first page of classified listing, then I'd check out the Most Commented, Most Viewed, and Most Recent. If anything looked interesting, I'd check it out further. It made it easy for me to look at everything I wanted to see by going to my single bookmarked page. I didn't have to click around, look in multiple forums, or do any searches. Now I'm stuck looking at reports with the most views, which may or may not have any interest to me.

Again, this is just me. It's how I used it and really think the new format is a step in the wrong direction. So much so, my visitation of 'ANOTHER' website is way up since this change.

The way site was( which I liked and used) does not get people to look around at whole site. They want you to read the articles and look at advertising. Many of us only look at recent reports not ads. It's about business , I get it but liked old way.

Anybody else wonder why this report about Hottest Reports never made it on the Hottest Reports?

I was assuming it was because it's in the forum section and not the report section....

who knows.. I'm a vote with my money kind of guy. Won't be coming here as much and won't be renewing the magazine.

If one of the previous replies is accurate, and they did this to FORCE us to look at more of the site, it's really sad. I don't like being forced to do anything.

The alternate sources/entertainment sites are starting to grow on me anyway.

Folks, you give us way too much credit and some of you assume the worst or something sinister. I assure you that the changes were made to improve the site. We are taking your comments to heart and will be talking in the next couple of days to see if we want to make some of the changes you are suggesting. Thanks again for the comments.

Tony, you've been promising an improved report section for at least a year, perhaps two. This has not happened. All we want is the latest reports, no bumps from comments, no other tinkering. Including unobtrusive ads are fine, by the way, we know you have to make money.

This is not rocket science. Kick the computer science kids out of the room and just give us normal fishing reports.

Overall, I think the site experience is a good one or we wouldn't all be commenting right now. I think a lot of us need a brain break from work and just want to come and see what is new since the last visit. At least I am speaking for myself. I still check out the articles and product reviews. If I you will permit me to get a little of topic, I think that is an area in need of an overhaul! Those read more like commercials and not an actual review. I would love to see someone field test and give an unbiased review.

I would like to get your thoughts on switching our reports section to a forum style like you see on all the other sites. We wrote this software which requires a lot of maintenance and is tough to make changes. We are testing it on some of our other sites and wanted to get your feedback.
Reply
   NOLAJim
Hey Tony, which other sites have you tested it on? I'd like to check it out.
Reply
They are not live yet. We can make them live on our end for testing purposes. Go to gonforum.com or tigerdroppings.com for a look around. Basically, these forums are used on most all sites around the country. They allow persons with a particular interest (deer, trout, bass, kayaks, politics, etc.) to look at topics that interest them without having to look thru stuff they are not interested in. We hope it fosters more dialog between people of like interests? Let me know what you think. Thanks again.
