I comp duck call here and in Georgia where I use to live, big on waterfowl, deer, and love pig hunting and turkey hunting as well. Just got out of coonhunting which I have been coin since I was big enough to carry the lights a dog Leeds. I'm not ask in for tips just how over run are yalls wma's? If there is game I do my own scoutin on birds and game. I have already figured the quality of deer genetics ain't in south from living in Georgia. But I'm not all bout that. Main WMA is the atchafalaya we are moving to jarreau. Can a man get out and hunt without running into 20 folks a day? Thanks a lot y'all.

Welcome to LA. Where you live is very close to Sherburne WMA. Got some real big deer out there. In certain places you may run into people, but the place is really big. The atchafalay basin so near to you will allow you to hunt any species and freshwater fish too. Start your scouting now. Squirrel and rabbit is still open. Turkey coming up soon. All can be found on Sherburne. This site always has a pic of a really big deer that someone killed on Sherburne, so don't think that there aren't any deer out there. I live on the west side of the river too not far from Jarreaux. Get some maprs of the atchafalaya basin and Sherburne WMA. Get out there and explore. The crappie and bass should be turning on in the basin soon. Welcome to the west-side.

Quite the contrary. There is an area known as South Farm on Sherburne WMA. Search that name in this forum and you will see a lot of info on how it works to hunt out there. Just west of you in the basin is Indian Bayou. Thats public hunting too, and very accessable with your 25 hp. Another spot thats south of you is Pat's Bay. There are also numerous public places that are Louisiana State land that are large cypress flats (Upper flat, Middle flat, lower flat) that you can hunt ducks too. There is no one place to go to get info (well maybe here), but there's a lot of places to go. Look into South Farm first. Thats the easiest. Squirrel season is still on so it's a good time to go wander the woods on Sherburne too. Make note of the deer trails you see, and go set up right there next season.
