Bowfishing Madness

Reply

Made a bow fishing trip Friday night with four buddies. we launched around 7:30 and was done witht he first limit by 8:30. We loaded the boat up and headed to get some food. we dropped the fish off and decided to wait around until midnight to make another go at it since we hated to leave the fish! We totaled 50 reds and a handful of black drum. Awesome night and some great footage taken with the go pro. This is my first attempt at making a video, so please give me some feedback! Thanks!

FIVE 'shooters' and fifty (50) redfish? Slightlyover-limit!?!? JOHN C.

Two trips
Mr. John if you would read the description I stated this was two different trips one being on Friday and the next after midnight making it Saturday. Therefore you are capable of two limits a person as long as your possession limit isn't over 5 a person. We spoke with wildlife and fisheries to be sure this was 100 percent legal. Thanks.

Awesome Video
This can't possibly be your first time - it looks WAY too PROFESSIONAL :) Great video and I'm totally amazed that the reds stayed so calm with a boat right over them.

Say you don't remember what your settings were on the GoPro do ya? I finally learned eventually that the 64bit memory card I got wasn't up to snuff on transfer speed so I ruined a LOT of video. Think I finally got all the bugs out on my last trip in Oct.

Now I guess you guys have bow fished enough you can tell when a redfish is legal size just by looking at it in the water. Now me - I doubt I'd got anywhere NEAR the fish with an arrow LOL. Nice video, really appreciate the underwater shots mixed in too.

Thanks!
I'm using default settings on the go pro lol and Elton I'm ready to put is a video together when I hope on that blue wave! I had an awesome group of guys with me and we all shot well. The first round I did some shooting but the second round I focused on the camera trying to get the underwater shots . Honestly there were so many fish if there was a doubt in your mind on size just pass. You'd get your chance!

Yep, it did appear to be stacked up in the shallows. Course as soon as I get off the main channel, it wouldn't take me long to be lost and having to depend on my GPS to find my way out.

No need
Actually we hit it on ideal conditions... The tide was low and we had three days of north wind so there was no water in the ponds forcing the fish in the main canals and lakes.

Great Video !
Dustin, great idea using the Go-Pro and taking the underwater shots. Everyone I know that looked at the video is impressed at how good it came out, especially with the underwater view, and no one recalls seeing a bowfishing video from that vantage point. Amazing inspiration in the parking lot of McDonald's !! And loved the Slow-mo under water. I'm still surprised at how calm most of the fish were when the camera was so close to them.

The music fit the fast paced action for that night, but next time, try some country music!! LOL Enjoyed shooting with you !

Lights
What kind of lights do you have? I have LEDS but I'm thinking about switching to HPS

HPS
That is a friends boat and that is HPS in the video. I've bow fished with HPS, LED, and halogen. HPS is by far the best when it comes to water penetration. While the rave is about LED and them running on batteries, I found that it reflected more light off the surface than penetrates. I would rather plain old halogen over LED. Only this about HPS is they are fairly heavy but at the same time you can buy some 150 watts which are about the same size as a 500 halogen and put out just as much light. Every one has their opinion and this is mine... HPS all the way, I'll be switching all my halogen soon.
