I have not met a bad group of hog dog hunters. All have been friendly and out there to work their dogs. All the hogs that they do kill seem to be larger hogs and the reason why is I believe if the dogs get on a big hog it will bay up quick and fight the dogs which are close to the dog hunters. A few years back I was deep in the woods and I could hear the dogs chasing and coming in my direction. The dogs caught the 40lb pig and was chewing him up. I was at least two hundred yards from this, so I began making my way through the thick woods towards the dogs. When I got there, two dogs were holding on to the pig, I shot the pig in the ribs, which the dogs let go immediately, then I put one behind the ear and put the hog down for good. Never did I hear anyone making their way to the catch site. The dogs left me and went back hunting again. I got the hog out and enjoyed my harvest. I don't think they would have been mad, after all, it seems that they want those big boars, more bragging rights. I'm looking for tender meat, so the 40lber suited me well.
This year a guy shot a large big tusk boar that the dogs were chasing, the hog guys wished the hunter would have let the dogs catch that big boar, but they were understanding. They did ask if they could have the head, the guy that shot the hog was more than happy to give it to them, they wanted those bragging rights.
So a hunter got some meat and the hog dog guys got a huge tusked boar's head, everyone was happy.
Hopefully this helps.
