Clovelly Fishing

Reply

Has anybody here fished and launched in Clovelly lately? I heard that canals are blocked off or you get run out of them. I also found out that peoples trucks were being broken into and robbed.I taught there was a guard watching for people who didn't pay the $400.00 to use the launch. I guess the thieves don't have to pay so nobody cares about them. I was wondering how the fishing was back there, if it was worth the money to go there. Thanks for any imput.

Some
I went Sunday and left with 5 nice reds and 5 good bass... There was boats all over if you can find a run out with some moving water with around 6ft water the reds and bass are stacked.. We also hit some shallow ponds with secluded grass beds in about 2 ft of water and reds were holding in them just have to present the bait without getting all in the grass.

tag
The thing that just threw me off is the tag is not good for a year the day you purchase. it runs like a fishing license..the year runs from Sept 1 - August 31.. So if you buy a tag now its good until August 31.

Has anyone been catching trout in the deep canal which was built when they raised the protection levy. Use to catch trout and bass there in all kinds of weather but a long ride from Lafitte for a dry run. There is a loading dock for oil companies in middle of this canal which is about 20ft deep.

Went Sunday
Water was muddy pretty much everywhere. A little cleaner towards the back in the dead ends. Lots of boats and lots of people running around. We tried corks, bottom, shrimp tipped, just shrimp, TKO, DOA etc. Ended with only a few bites and a couple of redfish. Nice day for a boat ride.
