Grand Isle Trout

Reply

Went to Grand Isle Sunday and Monday. Fished Elmers island both days. Trout didn't start feeding until about 10:30 each day. Caught 45 in two days, all being over 3 lbs. Topwater was the ticket. There's still tons of grass along the beach. To add to the fun, we had a 4-5 foot shark attack our stringer, while it was tied around my friends waist. Water was super clear, so I got to see the whole thing!! Be safe out there!!

Clean water
Did the water clean up along the beaches? Last weekend it was filthy. Thanks.

same thing
SO the water was clear on Elmers and you caught 45 on topwater? How about some pics??

Me and some buddies had the same thing happen on Elmers years ago though. Sand shark ate one of my double catch. Then it ate one off my buddies stringer but he didn't even know about it or feel anything he didn't discover it until he pulled the stringer to place a fish on it and found one with only a head. So another friend threw a spoon and caught a 3.5 footer.

Trout
Water was clear enough to be waist deep, and see your feet with no problem. It was clear enough to see the shark attack the stringer. By late afternoon, the water was filthy again. There was a hard rising tide all night, and it brought in that pretty green water. We got to the beach right before it started to fall. The trout bit aggressively from about 1030 to 12. We caught 33 on Monday, and another 12 or so Sunday. Once the tide started to fall really hard, the bite turned off completely. All trout expect two, were full of big eggs. We threw plastic, live croakers, live mullet, and all they wanted was topwater. We fished the very end, right where the beach meets the pass. Been catching nice trout there for years. My friend has a few pixs from the Sunday trip I think.
